Thanks! I didn't bookmark those and I thought I had! I have a rotten sinus headache and was intimidated at the searching I would have to do again.
Many, many thanks!
Now, I am off to send Fred a note!

I'm deeply tired. So I'm gonna go take a deep nap. :) Later, all.

I'm back, don't know what the heck that was. Don't think we would've felt the one that happened up north. Checked the radio and tv and online local news and nothing. Must have just been a snowplow or something. But I sure didn't hear one and usually can. Oh well.

I think I can clear this up:
The U.N. sanctions and agreements for cease-fire from Gulf War 1 would obviously include a ban on striking any other country in any way. I mean, they'd be meaningless without a clause like that, wouldn't they?
OK, OK, never mind....

Thank you, too, friend.
I really appreciate all who take the time to answer a question from one who knows so little about military weapons...it really helps.

Saddam is not very PR savy after all... Or, the fool of Baghdad didn't expect parts of the missle to survive the blast.
Is it possible that good will triumph over this evil, after all?

"SS-N-2 Styx...It was originally developed as a coastal defence missile. The missile was later modified for launching from Luda Class destroyer and other surface ships"
It was used for the first time in combat by the Egyptians against an Ireali destroyer (I think it was an ex-American vessel).
Anyway, the Egyptians had several patrol boats off the coast and knew that there was an Isreali Navy ship in the area; they launched several of these. The first one or two went right by the Isreali ship, the crew were curious (I think they even steared a course towards the origin). Unfortunately, the next few missles that appeared over the horizon locked onto the Isreali ship. When the final few Styx missles come over the horizon, the Isreali ship was already gone.
At that point EVERYONE gained a real respect for conventionally armed anti-ship missles...

From today's Impromptus column by Jay Nordlinger, NRO:
To its credit, the Bush administration was very, very careful not to say or even imply that Gulf War II would be a breeze. The only major figure who did was the immediate ex-president, William J. Clinton. Two weeks ago, he said, "This war is going to be over in a flash." That was just before he said, "You can always kill somebody next week. You can't bring them back next week" because, as we all know, the main intention of the allied powers is simply to kill people. Preferably innocent. We're supposed to "get over" Clinton, I realize. But if he continues to be disgraceful, are we not allowed to point out that he is disgraceful?
It's one thing if some armchair pundit predicts no, declares, definitively "This war is going to be over in a flash." But someone who was President of the United States and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces only two years ago? Please!

I'm really glad you're all here, you've all been both a source of information and an anchor.
Stay safe.

I've wondered more than once if she sits next to Brit for her own protection. That way Mort can serve as a buffer between Mara and Fred.

Matthews was told by the reporter on the ground that MATTHEWS WAS WRONG about the liberation of Iraq wherein those liberated LOVE US...ole squat said he was paying too much atention to the press and focus groups( read the post and sally Quinn) I saw the end of his comment, something about "well every focus group I see says different" or something. I am sick to death of these reporters pretending there is NO evidence that regular innocent Iraqi citizens not only welcome us, but were begging us to come in. There is abundant evidence of such.
I am keeping my eye out for MSNBC to replay the report Bob Arnot filed today where he said Iraqi conscripts taken prisoner were happy to be in American hands. I cannot find it on the website, and hope I heard the report correctly. Something to keep an eye out for.

Iraqi Info thugs - not used to being questioned are they? Well, they don't have to worry about being questioned by the liberal American press, who'll take Saddam's word over that of American officials every time.
To: Timeout
Thank you for those links. I sent an e-mail today to the alphabet networks complaining about their questioning and changed the sort of formatted e-mail for ABC to complain specifically about Terry Moran (moron).
These links will help clarify a few items for tomorrow's rang.
When the war is over, the media will go back to enemy #1. For now they will have to be content for enemy #2 - although I think they're doing their best to compete with Saddam.
