I have yet to pipe up on this subject, but now I will. The same core of people have been on this thread, especially overnight. If we stayed on topic during slow news times, the thread would die. We still post war info when it happens, breaking news we see on TV or read on the internet. The reason these threads have thrived for 8 days is because of the new friendships that have been found here. Sure, we can stop all off topic posts, but then no one would be here and it would not matter. We are not only filling a need for news on this thread, but also filing a need to make friends and chat. If that is so bad, then lets make this the last day of this thread and go to a news only thread. Of course all news posted here will have already been posted 15 times on FR. If someone does not like the way this thread goes, they are more than free to make a news only thread and go there.

Amen to that. There are slow times and if we didn't chat there would be no new posts. When things happen, we stop chatting and get down to business. There are plenty of other threads that discuss issues SOLELY. True, they are not consolidated, but they deal with "just the facts".

We would never get over 2,000 posts if we stuck to the war. And I for one, like this thread just fine.

I'm just not seeing the problem here...
