Re: Highway to Hell
About a month ago, I stumbled upon a thread that described the original highway to hell (they had a different name for it, but essentially the same thing) from the first Gulf War. Someone had included a great description by P.J. O'Rourke and awesome pictures of the hundreds of vehicles destroyed while fleeing from Kuwait. I've searched and searched for it but to no avail. It was terrific reading.

I couldn't find a thread, either. But
here's a link that might have the description you're thinking of. Do a page search for "highway" or scroll about 3/4 of the way down the page.

(If you use the word "embedded" in a conversation, you'd better be carrying an x-ray to show me.)

P J P'Rourke whote a book "Give War a Chance" with chapters on his time in Saudi covering GWI. I am listening on tape (when not listening to briefings, etc).
Very interesting to relive that war as a perceptive and on-our-side journalist saw it.
Maybe you will find what you are looking for in O'Rourke's book.
