Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Re: Negroponte presser
Aw, gawd. Stupid question about Jesse Jackson helping with humanitarian aid!
To: CurlyBill
That's a heck of an idea. What if...the US immediately establishes a temporary government(regional) in Umm Qasr to establish the city. Then the same in Al Nasariyah and then in Basra. Each city as they go...
It would prove to the citizenry there is INDEED a new Sheriff in town, it would spread like wildfire, it would allow for Iraqi citizens to find, try, judge, and punish their own who support Saddam and have accosted citizens and immediately change the game.
If only....

Apparently Jesse Jackson showed up at the UN todayHonestly, I thought you were joking when you posted this until I saw the other posts. He is a such a national embarrassment.

Yes, indeed unfortunate. But the effort to save the lives of those who may kill you (not this child but you get the point) is, IMO, a true definition of Compassionate Conservatism. :)

Well, I just heard on Fox that the Iraqis are claiming that the U.S. is stopping trucks of "aid" from Syria to Iraq. That's a hint.
