fnc has a clip of one of our tanks on fire

Also, they said the tank fire was the result of a (tank) canon misfire. Not the result of contact with an opponent.

..did you see the article about Fox beating CNN in the ratings, despite CNN's claim that they would "own the war coverage"..actually, I think that MSNBC has taken the viewers that would have gone to CNN..

I did not see the article, but I am not surprised. I personally am toggling between Fox and MSNBC. Very occasionally will tune to CNN if I surf and they have, say, their own embed on.

I hadn't even heard CNN brag they would "own" the coverage and am pleased they do NOT.

"The next generation will truly be awesome."

Yeah I heard Doctor Brown talking about these New Patriots, he is equipping them with the "Flux Capacitor" thus allowing them to travel back in time and blow up the future parents of the guy who shoots the scud!

Very High Tech!

I hate to do it, but I've got to go, and may not be back for a few days... A parting shot...

I think the media raised people's expectations, hence the drop in those thinking the war is going well, but I do believe the administration had a handle in this with all the glowing and positive remarks coming from CentCom and DOD.

I think it would be a good idea to recall at this time what the LEADER of the country has said all along... That this will take as long as it takes, that it WILL take LONGER than some have said, and that we will persist until it is done.

I don't have time to go back through President Bush's speechs over the past two weeks (and even two years) but everyone here can go to www.whitehouse.gov and do that themselves if they so desired to prove it. The reporters could, too, if they wanted to. I won't hold my breath.

Bye all... enjoy.

Where was your Dad during Tet?

Dodging rockets in Da Nang.

He doesn't talk about it much, same for his WWII and Korea experiences. I only found out day before yesterday that his hut was "fragged". The perp didn't want to actually kill anybody, just make a point, so he used a smoke grenade. Took weeks to get the pink out of his skivvies...

Sorry, lightning in SW Fla. today - had to turn off the computer for a bit. Dang, another severe thunderstorm warning. Too bad.

These scum are supposed to be believed by anyone, about anything they say?

Scary, isn't it. The pen is mightier than the sword, indeed. Western reporters pushing anti-American lies - we need a new name for them...Cheese-eating surrender monkey's already taken.

CNN's audience is liberals. Liberals are not watching the war like we are. They're lying in the middle of the freeway. So the more protesters they have to film, the less audience CNN has! LOL!

I've been thinking about the "short war" hype and how it all got started. To me a lot of the high expections for a quick victory were due to our first strike. After that we waited a day. And during that day delay there were rumors that Saddam may have been taken out, that the leadership was in complete disarray, that we were secretly negotiating with various Iraqi divisions about them surrendering. Then when the lull was over and we started to get down to business, we didn't go full tilt. It was almost like, "okay, we know you're close to breaking, so he's a little something to help convince you that giving up is really your best option". Then we heard more reports of Saddam maybe having been killed and that there was no coordination coming out of Baghdad. We heard analogies like 'once you cut off the head the rest would soon follow'. But it didn't follow. They didn't give up. Not just yet at least. So then we kept hearing about Shock & Awe and about how much more improved our weapons were now as compared to GW1. Therefore once S&A began a lot of ppl felt that that would do the trick. That the Iraqis would finally stop fighting for a doomed regime and in a war that they couldn't possibly win.

So in a way i can understand the impatience after getting the impression early on that we had disabled the leadership and that we were negotiating surrenders with at least one or two Iraqi divisions. Can't blame our guys for trying to push hard for (and thinking that they had a good chance to get) a quick end to the war but at the same time the psychological ploys we used to try to convince the Iraqis that a short war was in their best interest is now coming back to hurt us a bit as the war keeps going on. But oh well. We gave the Iraq military their chance. And if the they want a fight to the death, all we can do is help them to that end. No matter how long that takes.
