Do you think that the Iraqi strategy was this:

(1) Wait quietly for coalition forces to get past Basra

(2) Send forces out from Baghdad and Basra simultaneously as soon as the coalition forces are in the open and far from Umm Qasr and their supply lines

(3) Close in on coalition forces in a pincer movement?

It seems like that was their strategy as soon as the sandstorm left a hole in coalition air support.

If so, their first big move may just have been decisively crushed.
