Its crap! ONE set of standards should be made. If a woman wants to join, she tests. If she passes, she is IN PERIOD! If she doesnt make it, she has the option to work harder to make it. I dont believe in seperation of the sexes and do not believe in "special rights"

My daughter is a sergeant in the military. She signed up at age 18 and is in her second tour of duty. She is as pretty as the girl in the pic and tough as nails. She also understands the concept of duty to one's country and is fully prepared to go into combat if need be.

The troops need cook's and supply clerks, keeps track of supplies, what's needed, what's not, ect. She would have been the one keeping track of the inventory and ordering any and all supplies needed. Just like medics, they have basic training in combat, but, don't usually do any fighting. They are all part of a greater support system needed to keep things going.

I have some questions:

1. Can anybody provide a link or write down the text
a) of the pledge of allegiance
b) of the oath, members of the armed forces have to say?

2. The US armed forces have to serve the interests of the US government, right? And noone else (e.g. the American people)?

Thanks in advance,

Michael

"My daughter is a sergeant in the military. "

Hurrah for her! You must be so proud of your daughter, who has chosen to serve her nation in the military. Congratulations!

I don't understand the military reason for having teenage girls sent into the combat zone.

It's called PC.

"So none of you guys have a problem with sending teenage girls into combat zones?"

Call me old fashioned, a chauvinist, or whatever. I'm a Vietnam vet (U.S. Air Force) but I have a major problem with sending teenage girls into combat zones. But this is what Clinton and his feminist admirers had been insisting upon for years, and they got their wish. I shudder to think of our young MEN in the hands of these barbarians, but I'm sorry, the idea of a young GIRL like that at the mercy of those brutes makes me ill.

I will recognize that fact.

But I still feel more sympathy for the women.

Also most of those men will not have to return to real life and face that action as a desired, and normal human behavior. The female in this case most likely will.

It is less about the capability of the women, and more about how the bigger picture is not served by her being there, regardless of her desires. Sacrifice is sometimes letting someone else fight your battles even if you are capable.

Officers, generals, etc. face this everyday. Often they are more capable, and experienced fighters. They are kept out of combat to serve the larger pictures regardless of their capabilities and desires.

Sadly, I personally know one young woman/girl who did get pregnant just to avoid being deployed. The father of her baby is over there. It really bothers me.

The paragraph that puts the article in context is missing from the first post:

Friends and family tried to keep those images in mind as they waited for news of the 19-year-old Army private who is missing in southern Iraq with 11 other U.S. soldiers from the 507th Maintenance Co.

Please pray for Jessica and the other soldiers with her!

A girl has to be pretty stupid to joing the military if she doesn't expect to be asked to fight. The dykes at NOW have been pushing for this for the past 25 years or more.

I seriously doubt President Bush would like his daughters to be in the combat zone.

False argument. President Bush's daughters did not volunteer to enlist in the Armed Services. This young lady did.

I don't understand the military reason for having teenage girls sent into the combat zone.

There's nothing to understand, other than the fact that she volunteered to put herself into harm's way.

Young, American, conservative-transcender, cocky, and black. Don't like it? Sounds like a personal problem to me.

I dont want to get into the debate of whether we should send women into combat

More important, God Bless anyone and everyone who have sacrificed for their country in this time of war. God Bless all our POWs for their safe return. And, God Damn every scuzzy pro-Saddam Iraqi who harms any POWs they have in their possession

Place blame on this where it belongs.....the United Nazis (and the chief U-Nazi, the Ebony Hitler, Kofi Annan...and all his weak appeasement bozos)....US liberal appeasers....and Saddam Insane himself.

Support our Troops...and Slap the Appeasers

Ahem.... they are soldiers. And Americans. They do not deserve your disrespect.

Every Army that has tried to use woman in combat has dropped the idea eventually.

Untrue. What about Israel?

"Because somebody lied to them and told them they were soldiers."

They _are_ soldiers, my friend. You show no respect for our women in the military. I don't know your background, but I know the background of this young woman. She volunteered to join the military. She is a true patriot. She deserves better than your disrespect.
