WILL WE FORGIVE A TRAITOR, TO BE "POLITICALLY CORRECT?

LOYALTY AND TRUST….THE TRUE MARKS OF A SOLDIER

Chris Seifert, 27, a Captain in the 101st Airborne Division was killed early Sunday morning in Kuwait. The Associated Press reported that fifteen other soldiers were injured, three seriously, by a surprise attack within the compound.

At first, it was suspected that local Iraqi sympathizers were responsible. It turned out to be much worse. One of the 101st’s own, Sgt. Asan Akbar (his adopted Muslim name), was later identified as the probable attacker.

According to AP, an army spokesman was quoted as saying that Akbar had been "having what you might call an attitude problem." The spokesman said that, if found guilty, Sgt. Akbar would be returned to Fort Campbell, Ky., home of the 101st, "for judicial punishment."

There is much divisiveness in our nation today, much like Viet Nam. Large numbers of anti-war protesters clog our streets, giving psychological support to our enemies and weakening our military’s efforts in the field.

We had, and still have, very strong doubts about the administration’s motives and methods in Iraq; nevertheless, now that we are engaged, nothing short of total support for our troops is the only course left for Americans, both in and out of uniform.

We felt the same about the Viet Nam War, which we remember well. This nation cannot repeat the mistake of treating our military people like dirt. And to allow a traitor within the armed forces to go without swift and sure punishment would be inexcusable.

If the man had an "attitude problem", he should have expressed it in some way other than shooting his comrades in the back. Combat is bad enough without having to look constantly over your shoulder.

Sgt. Akbar made a choice when he joined the VOLUNTEER army and took an oath to defend his country. He made another choice (if found guilty) to break that oath. If he had an "attitude problem", he deserves the ultimate "attitude adjuster"…..a firing squad.

Before you begin to rationalize, temporize, or feel sympathy for, Sgt. Asan Akbar, remember Captain Chris Seifert. He got no "judicial review."

(Ed. Note: On this one, we would like YOUR opinion. What do you think?)

The Armed Services, like most of our other official institutions have a HUGE game of catch-up: do you remember that the first public statement about this guy from the Army ascribed his problem/motive to be one of "resentment"?

There is a PC euphemism if I ever heard one, and as good an example as any of the Army's trial balloon of CYA. It continues on, a few days later: Today Bob Grant had a radio interview with an officer named Heath, an offical Public Relations mouthpiece connected to Ft. Campbell Ky, where Akbar departed from. I was astonished by this interview. Grant as usual was asking him pointed questions along the lines of "how is it that this guy was not screened out, with his attitude", and "wouldn't the proper punishment according to the UCMJ be nothing short of execution",etc.etc. Heath became postively defensive immediately, reminding Grant, that there are MANY muslims in the Armed Services, that we even have Muslim Chaplains, that the Army is not a dictatorship, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and within about ONE MINUTE, decided that he didn't "like the direction this interview was going", and he clearly wanted it to end. He tried to end it by inviting Grant in a haughty/folksy tone, to come down and visit Ft. Campbell and he would show him around. Grant responded "Well, if I come down there, I don't think it'll be you that I'll have show me around!!"
Grant was absolutely befuddled by this Heath guy. But I think the official Army line is already established: "Don't rock the boat, we have too many Muslims in our ranks already, let's try to put forth the idea that he just went crazy" (out of a lethal mix of paranoia and resentment---that he was driven to strike first because he anticipated his fellow soldiers were going to turn on him because of his
Muslim "faith".) In another time, and another war, this guy would be summarily executed. This guy will be imprisoned for some indefinite period of time. He will NEVER be executed.

A fast drum head court martial followed by firing squad would be my vote. Then bury him in the sands.

I have a fear that this person, a black, with an adopted muslim name, will not face a firing squad or any serious punishment. There would be a furor in this country. It would be said that the rest of the country is picking on all the blacks in this country and in the military that have accepted the "religon of peace". I say, treat him the same as our troops would treat any other rag-head that fires on them. Blow his frigging brains out.

Mohammed would have the guy beheaded.

Why? Because he confessed?

There should have been a field court martial held within 48 hours and the bastard should be dead by now.

Yes ---political correctness is destroying us, he clearly is an enemy.

I saw a brief interview with his step-father, who is also a converted Muslim, and he was making all kinds of excuses about how Muslims are discriminated against and misunderstood and all of that. The man is a terrorist: I hope, though I have my doubts, they give him a fair trial, execute him, and be done with it.

He should never have left Kuwait alive. I suspect his "interrogation" at Manheim is unpleasant, but now he's out of the theater...I fear this traitor will survive his cowardly actions.

march him out in the desert and put a bullet between the eyes. Gives us a tax deduction since the democrats are so concerned about how much this war is costing.
