Capitol Hill Blue, the oldest daily news site on the Internet, has been sold to a group of working Washington journalists.
Doug Thompson Media, owner and operator of the web site since its debut on the Web on October 1, 1994, announced today that it has agreed to sell the site to Capitol Hill Journalism Partnership.
"Capitol Hill Blue is a pioneer in web-based journalism," said partnership spokesman William J. Lowrey. "We intend to honor that tradition and improve upon it."
The partnership is composed of working, Washington-based journalists who work for print, broadcast and web-based media outlets.
"We intend to use Blue as a test bed for new techniques and concepts for web journalism," Lowrey said.
Capitol Hill Blue first appeared on the web on October 1, 1994, as a one-page weekly newsletter published by veteran journalist Doug Thompson. He expanded publication to daily on January 1, 1995, and the site gained fame during the Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky scandals of the Clinton administration.
Thompson left the publication earlier this month to pursue new opportunities.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed. The new owners will take control of the web site on April 1, 2003.

How did I come to be involved in this fiasco? I was reading a thread, and something set my proverbial spider-sense tingling. So I posted a challenge to the person who put the thread up and was taking it at face value. The discussion went from there. Probably, had not so many people been on the thread seemingly pushing Thompson's story, I never would have pulled the string. But I did, and found nothing to make me think there is a Terrance Wilkinson, I posted a thread about it and made a blog entry about it, and everything unfolded from there. If you follow up from that post on my blog, you can get a pretty good feel for how things flowed.
So instead of insinuating I am drinking (drunk) because I question who is who and what, in this CHB fiasco, post your reasoning/facts for the above statement instead of thanking gawwd you are going to go get your nails done.

I think it would be far more "educational" if you perhaps could elucidate on the above selling of CHB statements. WHO OWNS Capitol Hill Blue at the present time? Who was the deceptive party in this fiasco?
And what exactly does this mean?

I am not associated with CHB, and had never even visited that website until I started getting suspicious about the article which I saw posted here.And what exactly does this mean?

Who owns CHB? I have no clue, other than a recent statement where Doug Thompson said he is still the editor (posted to the Madman thread), and his statements on these threads that make it sound like he is still running it, and the DNS records for the domain name which still list him as the owner. My best guess is that Doug Thompson owns it.
What does that imply about the "Sold" story? Either the sale fell through, or it did not and Doug still gets to run the place. I have no idea which.
As for the comment by 'Lowery' about 'new techniques', I have no idea. I cannot read minds, especially of people I have never met, know nothing about, and am not even sure exist.
Since I have answered your questions to the best of my ability, how about returning the favor. Why on earth do you seem to be under the impression that I am associated in any way, shape, or form with Capitol Hill Blue?

Actually, their web names are hilarious. Truthout, where the truth is out the window. Misleader, no one misleads better than them.
Doug Thompson says that he has pulled six Capitol Hill Blue articles because they were based on Wilkinson as a source.
Do you know what those six articles were? Did any of them appear on FreeRepublic? (They might still be in Google's cache too, although they'll undoubtedly disappear soon.)
Knowing what disinformation or information Wilkinson fed Thompson earlier could be quite revealing.
[Maybe someone has already posted what the six stories were? The threads on this topic are long, and I could easily have missed it.]
