I think there's some truth in that. More specifically, many white nerds think they'll become cool by adopting Islam because it seems "black."

Good point, dasboot. That was surely Johnny Taliban's motive.

Early Sunday morning Kuwait time, a sergeant assigned to an engineering brigade of the 101st Airborne Division allegedly attacked three tents in which many divisional commanding officers were sleeping on the eve of their unit's jump-off into Iraq. According to press reports of the incident, Sgt. Asan Akbar rolled three or four grenades into the tents then proceeded to shoot some of those who sought to flee the ensuing fire and carnage. The attack killed Captain Christopher Seifert and wounded more than a dozen other members of the storied "Screaming Eagles," several so severely they had to be flown to the U.S. military hospital at Ramstein, Germany. The words Akbar is reported by the Los Angeles Times to have uttered when he was seized after the fragging suggest the ominous nature of his "attitude": "You guys are coming into our countries and you're going to rape our women and kill our children."
He got it all wrong, the ones raping women and killing children aren't Americans but Iraqis. That reason why our troops are fighting and dying there is to liberate such victims from a vicious regime, to dismantle their network of terrorist funding and to destroy WMD. But since when does the truth matter to these fanatics?

Wasn't me, although I think I recall seeing it. A search didn't turn up an article, so it must have been in the commentary, rather than the article.

Here's another article that might be of interest:
Muslim G.I. says he won't go.
I worry that the problem might be more widespread than many people think.

Back in the 1990s the first Muslim chaplain was accessioned into the US Army to meet the spiritual needs of a growing number of Muslim soldiers.
This necessitated, among other things, changing the Chaplain Corps crest.
The crest had featured an open book with the Star of David on one side and the Cross on the other. The new symbol removed the Jewish and Christian symbols and left the pages of the open book blank so as to fit all faiths.
At the time, some chaplains I knew expressed discomfort over these changes but were resigned to the fact that the chaplaincy had to change if it were to remain free of more constitutional challenges.
The rule among chaplains was to Perform or Provide. If you could not perform a certain ritual or service then you were required to provide for it by ensuring the soldier was linked up with someone who could help.

Good question...with 9 of 14 muslim chaplains trained by "Saudi-supported" (IMO this means Wahhabi) organizations, the odds are pretty good...but I'm sure the jihadist influence begins long before that. Watch out for the Wahhabi's especially!

BUMP! Watch those Muslim soldiers.....they're fighting for the other side.

This 5th columns is the most dangerous element and it's not confined to the military. There are even some in the
FBI. All very scary. When will people notice and start filtering these people out of their jobs?

"

Didn't anyone catch the phraseology here? Are semantics dead?
If this person didn't see the United States as his country, (and his choice of words indicates that was not the case), then he had no business anywhere near the war zone, especially not in a U.S. uniform.
I agree, someone really screwed the pooch on this one.
To: Smokin' Joe
The problem is that he didn't say it until AFTER he had done the foul deed.

It may be that last Sunday's attack turns out to be an isolated event. It should, nonetheless, serve as a wake-up call to the Bush Administration and all who love this country. This should never happen again. It's past time to check out all Muslim-American soldiers!
To: Dr. Scarpetta
time to check them right out of the forces and home to the detention camps that will be needed for these people.

Thanks for posting, I have been saying for atleast 10 years that America should be paying attention to this. I remember hearing Louis Farakhan speak on CSPAN about 10 years ago, saying how they will run the crackers down in the streets
