Not at night in a trackless desert.
Reading a small (daylight) photographic signal and getting specific location and getting that location back to the field in seconds to a tracking station to the flight control to the attacking aircraft (if one is even there) and getting the attacking aircraft to the bomb point to get the bomb to the target can't be done in seconds.
It takes longer than that just to verify that friendlies aren't in the bomb point where you think the target used to be.
