Where in the world did that term, cakewalk, come from anyway? I never heard it before the action started and now it's all over the place.

Where in the world did that term, cakewalk, come from anyway? I never heard it before the action started and now it's all over the place. Cakewalk from 19th C. minstrels. The one who strutted the best, won cakes.
In application to the press, I attribute it to selective hearing from the press. They don't believe that the President means what he says. The President has stated over and over (and Ari re-iterated at the presser today) this is not going to be easy.

There used to be a game played, at 'social events', church socials etc., called a cakewalk. It involved putting down numbers on the floor and the participants would walk around from number to number to music. When the music stopped, a number was called out, and the person standing on that number won a cake. It was considered an easy and amusing way to have fun. The cakes were donated, of course, by the participants.
