Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I think we should round up all of these idiots after the war for a seminar featuring those Iraqis that are freed from Saddam's rule and make them sit there non stop until every one of them that wants has told their story.

Been lurking here a few days.. did post a few... I have lousy TV coverage here.. learning more from this post. thanks..
I did watch the Oscars. (I am under my computer table now, dodging your rotten tomatos ) I know many have mixed feelings on this.. but I wanted to see first hand what was involved. I am a real cinema enthusiast. Personally had early show biz experience via my participation in ballet company... Sure I know it is NOT the real world.. But my experience with cinema is truly no different than the reading enthusiast who reads fiction non stop. I am very visually oriented . As a psychologist there is also a strong teaching that myth, fantasy in any form is the basis for healthy balance..
I have seen every movie except "talk to her" & Columbine.. I will now cross off Columbine (Moore was an ass & Steve Martin handled it so well.. If you didnt hear, after he made the tirade comments, Martin came out & said about the good time back there as the teamsters are helping Michael Moore into the trunk of his Lino ___ lots of laughs from an audience that was booing him & uncomfortable visibly with his attitude. - I will personally be boycotting the ones who have been attacking our president & our efforts in a hateful, disruptive manner. I have many friends (???) Who are on the negative side. Of course, there are tensions there.
The youthful "star" in tu Tambien was a typical immature, idealistic kid - I thought, oh know, here it comes.... and it did. I wanted to see the audience response to anything that was said & for the most part you could see the embarrassment & the anger against those who spoke very out of turn & against the producers demands/requests on property. The applause mostly came with the stars that prayed for an early end to war (hey, I am on that page , also !) .. But not until we do the right thing...
Saradan & Streisand both made their statements (Saradan w/peace signal as she walked in & Streisand with her comments that she was glad all lived in country , even stars, where they were permitted to express their opinion. Both I am sure where grinding their teeth but they pulled it off fairly gracefully. I still have shackles up my back & will not be for awhile going to Saradan films... I feel she is a decent actress..When she attacks my pres/country , she is blackballed.

Some of you are aware of the Radio bit I did last week.. Wanted to let you know that the radio clip that I did locally on Friday was apparently played over & over on the radio all weekend. I heard it replayed with my name as I was leaving church. I called in the radio station & talked again with the talk show host. This is one of the Clear channel stations & the one that sponsored our local Rally for America in Cleveland. The original clip was that in my opinion the idea of Christianity /biblical grounding do NOT forbid war.. I used Luke 12 .. Among many other things, As basis.. The idea of to those for much is given , much is expected. I explained that Christ first not said this..... not Spidermans uncle. Apparently that resonated very strongly with those listening. I understand peoples objection to war but will fight vigorously with using pacifist grounding as biblical. It is NOT. Not if you take the whole of scripture.
You can prove anything by pulling a few phrases out of context. Politicians & religous sectists do it regularly. (As we well know.)..
Bye for now
I am doing this quickly due to very tight schedule of taking relatives to hospital in next week.. Will be in & out periodically. So I apologize for typos / misspelling etc. I am never good at that anyway !!!
Just saying hi & putting in my 25 cents along the way

Do you think PETA would object?

More than two hours? I realize it would take a miracle, but I'd pray for premature ejaculation.

Now asking why the New York Times says helicopters were so shot up they couldn't perform, while General Franks said they executed well.
General speaking says he will go with Franks. (No kidding!)
It is amazing to see the New York Times sourced as the font of all information and wisdom by these press people. Meanwhile, here on FR, we realize they are only one step above Al Jazeera.

"How will you change the rules of engagement?" Tell me so I can print it for our enemy to see. Stupid.

Q: Why is Iraqi TV still functioning? (Good question)
A: Franks does things of his own choosing.
To: cibco
Look at the feigned "concern" on those faces. If they were concerned about America or our troops they would not be working to undermine and misrepresent this war.

Did you have to do that?! I can't even imagine who would.... I contend that this is her problem. She's got the hots for W and just can't stand being denied. Now The 'Toon, he probably did her to get her on his side.

I want to know myself why we have allowed Irai TV to stay on the air...

I've just been reading a poll article in the WashPost. 71% "still" support the war. But I want to post something else......but WARNING...this is going to get your hackles up.
They included comments from some of the poll participants. Check out THIS one from Daphne Nugent, 40, who works for a health care company and lives in New York City:
"I didn't expect there to be this much trouble. And I'm a little upset by what I'm hearing in terms of the casualties and the prisoners of war. . . . I thought it would end pretty easily and quickly, the war part of it anyway, not the occupation part."
So. She thought the "occupation" was going to be the hard part. And she's from NYC! Un-frenchin'-believable.

I think we should tap into Iraqi TV's signal, play constant pictures of Helen and then tell them to surrender and we'll stop.
