It's an unlikely legacy for the dreamer Corrie, youngest daughter of Craig, an insurance executive, and Cindy, a volunteer in schools. Their child was an accomplished flautist who recently moved from Olympia to the gentle countryside of North Carolina.

gentle countryside?....

First, he said, there was fear on her face as she realised that her defiant gesture was going wrong.

Uh ... yeah ... I suppose there WOULD be!

By the way, all this wordage about Rachel Corrie, but no mention of how the bulldozer was doing.

I'm no fan of Israel, but I have trouble feeling any sympathy for this idiot. I often wish we would do the same kind of thing in the US. It would be great if the police didn't stop traffic everytime a bunch of these idiots decide to block a freeway or bridge. Imagine a bunch of dirty hippies on the Golden Gate dodging 70 mph traffic.

Most Iraqis' I've seen seem to realize that they are being liberated and seem to appreciate it. These Palistinians on the other hand are too far gone. They should be introduced to MOAB in the near future.

'We knew there was a risk,' Smith said, 'but we also knew it never happened in the two years that we (the ISM) have been working here. I knew we take lots of precautions so that it doesn't happen, that if it did happen it would have to be an intentional act by a soldier, in which case it would bring a lot of publicity and significance to the cause.'

It does sound intentional on the Israelis' part, at least from this article.

If, over the years, the Palestinians had confined their protests to non-violent actions such as Rachel Corrie's, then the Israelis would have had a much bigger problem. The US would not have continued the billions per year, and large numbers of Israelis would have protested as well.

Rachel's beloved status is actually quite easy to understand. For she has become that type of American that is most venerated by Palestinians.

a dead American
