got a couple of majors and 11 are being medivaced somewhere.

Sheesh! Your screen name is appropriate!

This kid is but a high school grad. No more than that or he would be a officer. He is a combat engineer and NOT a Engineer. One is a MOS designation and the other is a major (education)

Combat engineers are equipment operators, truck drivers, ditch diggers and also soldiers if needed.

I discerned from your other post the distinction between engineer types. Admittedly, I am better at politics than matters of war but sometimes, I'm just typing what I hear on my Sylvania tv which I hope doesn't blow up. I need it to transcribe debates and pressers. I'm a fast freeper typer. It comes in handy sometimes.

Many enlisted people have college degrees.

And most of the rest are working on one. At least,that's true in the Navy and the Air Force. And I've had many Army men and women in my college classes.
