I don't think it's a good sign that Times reporter hasn't called back after those gunshots. If the pissed off paratroopers caught the 2 they sure as heck ain't gonna let a reporter broadcast the little chat they're having with them.
To: Dr. Eckleburg
He is ok, reported in to CNN just now. No gunfire -- that was audio from Baghdad AA Fire

CNN: It was 2 grenades....Camp NJ and PA
It was a terrorist attack!I love CNN, they are going to mangle terminology to get the most sensational news out.
This was an act of war. We are at war. Those troops are in a state of war. Enemy combatants infiltrated the camp and tried to kill some members of the 101st.
Of course these are the same networks that try to differentiate that those who die in helicopter accidents the past few days didn't actually die during the war, thereby causing the families more grief.
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the military tries to play this up as a "terrorist" attack rather than a "our guards didn't do their jobs" or a "our security/screeners weren't good enough and we let just anybody into the camp".

No - press guys are notorious camera hounds, plus he sounded very genuinely concerned and may be previous military guy himself - thought I read that a while ago - all he'd need to do is pick up the phone.

From what Gen. Bernard Trainor, MSNBC, can tell, he thinks it has to be Iragi Special Ops who would have pulled off the fragging.

We're really 100 miles from Baghdad. This reminds me of those Germans in American uniforms in World War II who had Bastogne surrounded. It still didn't change our confidence in victory.

Dan's having another Bobabooie moment...

Wonder if they wore American uniformsCommand tent fragged = enemy action.
Not if you're a Vietnam vet.

How can a phone line in Kuwait pick up AAA fire from Baghdad. I've had CNN on - where was I? Can't type and listen now - I'll be doomed.

The Germans did. Fat lot of good it did them.
To: Amerigomag

We have been infiltrated. Everyone thinks we are marching triumphantly to Baghdad, but I see Baghdad playing dead and al-Qaeda and Saddam loyalists biding their time and waiting to unleash horrors through the wandering "farmers" as well as the al-Samoud missiles in Baghdad. Terrorist cells are not dependent on the head, and are perfectly capable of carrying on their evil plans regardless of what is transpiring.

I guess the younger folks have to learn the lessons of VietNam. If memory serves me correctly, this kind of crap was commonplace.

camp NJ and pA
is that two different camps or two camps together

You'd would think all of the news stations could agree to a system during a time like this, to atleast have a station wide alert system. Even a crawl on the bottoms of all the channels would at least keep us informed in the event of 'Breaking News'. Yeah you'd think this would be more important than golf, b-ball, Travel Cafe, or Cops. /sarcasm.
