Mysterious Illness Kills 2 In Beijing in Sign of Spread
Saturday, March 22, 2003; Page A03
BEIJING, March 21 -- Chinese doctors today reported two deaths in Beijing and 20 people stricken in Shanghai by a disease with symptoms similar to severe acute respiratory syndrome.
The doctors' statements cast doubt on Chinese government pronouncements that the spread of the disease, also known as SARS, had been limited to Guangdong province, in southern China, where it is believed to have originated. State-controlled media have been banned from reporting about the disease since mid-February.

"China said it was Chlamydia"
Now that's scary. The medical community(heck, any community) shouldn't trust China at all on this if they are lying to this degree.

All cases of SARS are being placed in severe isolation, with special masks and barrier nursing

Remember, someone has documented antibodies so we are on the road to an immunization. It's a matter of time and the only way to expedite this is to turn up the heat on the research.
That being said, this is going to cull the world population until this research project is completed and preventive medicine can take over.

Of course
KUALA LUMPUR March 22 - The Severe
Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) - the mysterious flu threatening several Asian countries is affecting air travellers to Hong Kong, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik said.
"The pneumonia to some extent affected the country's transportation industry," he told reporters after attending Sheffield Hallam University's convocation ceremony here Saturday.
Ling said SARS affected the number of air travellers to Hong Kong and several conferences to be held in the island were postponed.
"People started to withdraw from the conferences because of the pneumonia outbreak. Even Malaysians who are supposed to attend these conferences are cancelling their trip to avoid unnecessary risks."

Brings to mind the"Four Horsemen" spoke of in Revelations. My nieces' mother in- law is in Vietnam now. This stuff is truly worrysome.

I have serious questions on it being biowarfare. The timing of it along with the Chinese charade.

I suggest we isolate the entire SE Asia from the U.S. IMMEDIATELY!
But that will never happen unfortunately.

Have they established a mortality rate for SARS yet?

The origins for this disease negate the idea of Bio-warfare.
I do not think it is connected at all. No dots to connect.

Hong Kong needs to be declared a Hot Zone, then we can stop this daily spread of new contacts on airlines and work backwards.
Will not happen

Unknown some have recovered, many are in ICU

I believe this is good/bad old fashion nature at work.

Although if someone did try to slip some Bio in we are now Hypersensitive to anything coming down the pike so nature may have given us a break (in a back handed way).

If this is identified, do you think they will be able to make a vaccine? I read somewhere that the blood of people who had recovered had antibodies that prohibited the growth of the disease when it was added to their blood. Or something along those lines. This is starting to kind of freak me out.
I live smack dab in the middle of Saskatchewan, Canada, if it comes here, oh boy! They keep standing by the '9 people infected in Canada' but I don't believe that it hasn't spread out alot more than is being reported. I don't trust our healthcare system.
I have two small children and am ready to panic. I don't know if I should just continue to live my life and wait and see, or start thinking about hiding out somewhere.
okay that was a bit of a paranoid rant, but jeeez!

All of us feel like that, don't feel bad. I asked my husband this morning "at what point do I not send our daughter to school"?

Apparently the one in Wisconsin is not in a hospital. They have not revealed her location within the state either. They are saying they aren't "sure" yet if it is SARS that she has, and that it wouldn't be fair to her to reveal her location (why not if her ID isn't given out?). Seems to me potential cases should be quarantined UNTIL they are sure, and that it's more fair to the REST of us to let us know where these cases are popping up...
