Looks like he was referring to "As Samawah" (at least according to
this map). It's basically halfway between An Nasiriyah and An Najaf, or less than 150 miles from Baghdad. BTW, spelling of these cities is not consistent from map to map.

Dear God
Please Stop
I think the US pop-music/rap industry is one of the answers to the question "Why do they hate us?"

Mo, have your screamer on standby. New thread at the top of the hour...

"We are in a lull
Lack of sleep and food has set us all off on tangents!"
We're either punch-drunk or drunk from punch.
I might be a little of both.

Maureen Dowd loves Eminem.

>>However, how are we supposed to fly in a brigade, much less a battalion, with the lift that we have?<<
C-5 air bridge, 1 Abrams M1-A1 per C5.
The problem is, the armor is supposed to be on the water passing through the Suez Canal.
What about all the fuss last week about Americans at Ar ar in SA? Ar ar is only 180 miles from Jeddah on the Red Sea.
I think there is another axis of advance on Baghdad planned, but from where and by whom beats me.
Probably beats hell out of Saddam, too.

Nope.
Their equipment is on those ships. The boats have been floating around waiting for somewhere to unload.
From Ft Hood TX to the persian gulf it takes 3 weeks via ship, the soldiers leave in waves after the 3 weeks are up. So they've been sitting pretty waiting for the ship to dock. That's why Turkeys indecision screwed us up so bad, 1st cav has had orders for weeks but can't even launch the boats yet because they have nowhere to dock...

I think the US pop-music/rap industry is one of the answers to the question "Why do they hate us?" I actually like Eminem a lot. Guess I am going to get banned from FR for saying that. Was nice knowing everyone...

I respect that I try to separate art from politics as the population of leftists would leave me without many options But Eminem, is just so disturbing to me.... completely shock in the vien of Marilyn Manson etc... Best modern artists Ive found lately are Nickel Creek and Pete Yorn

>>I thought I heard theat they were still on ships in transit of the Suez canal??<<
The armor is on the water (or ashore at an unknown location). The troopers are in Texas, ready to fly to somewhere.
