You are absolutely right. Defending the borders begins with Bush, and ends with him. After 9/11, he had the political cover to take a stand and finally secure our borders -- but he looked the other way as he put Fox's interests, big business's, and those of the "illegal alien voting lobby" all ahead of the law-abiding American taxpayers he has sworn to protect and defend. That is why many of us will never vote for him again.

Most people with your sentiments never voted for him in the first place. He speaks spanish, has a sister-in-law who's Mexican, and didn't run on a closed border candidacy.

I'm sure you'll promise many more times here never to vote for him.

Right. I think part of his thinking is that he can capture the hispanic vote by showing laxity toward Mexico (and by nominating Estrada and by speaking Spanish, etc.) And that is a bad strategy, cynical and not putting America first.

Terrific. Let's cut off our nose to spite our face. I suppose you will vote for Gore in 2004, if he runs, maybe Hillary, or perhaps you want to vote for Daschle? Maybe you could persuade them to run.
