[history]
JOWLY "Jaws" star Roy Scheider staged a silly peace protest in the Hamptons the other day, lying down in the middle of Montauk Highway pretending to be a casualty of war.
Scheider, who lives in the Hamptons year-round, headed up a contingent of 75 peaceniks who staged a mock funeral procession down the middle of Route 27 in Sagaponack Tuesday morning, causing a brief traffic jam but mostly confusion in the resort community, where the off-season is usually uneventful.

What was 911 to him? A minor plane accident?

Roy Scheider's still alive?
To: metalboy
Scheider and friends dressed in all black and carried white coffins bearing anti-war slogans, led by a veiled woman cradling a folded American flag. Then someone played "Taps" while they lay down "dead" beside their caskets, causing a 45-minute traffic jam.If it wasn't for the seriousness of the situation, these people would be hilarious.

Looks as if Scheider has "Jumped the Shark" this time!!
I Guess his career was aleady over and this is just a way for people to remember he is still around.

I've noticed this in the war opposition. It seems that Europe thinks if they placate the Arabs in both Iraq and Israel then they won't be targets. The US Left thinks if we just don't do anything, they won't attack us again.
That is the horrible result of the rationalization that emerged after 911. They hit us because we were interventionist . . . or not interventionist enough . . . or supported Israel . . . or failed to chastise Israel more . . or whatever.
This is exactly how they viewed the Soviet Union. They were preoccupied with fear over nuclear war -- that they were convinced the US would start. They lived their lives in fear, like an unarmed 90 pound woman walking through South Central L.A. And just one more treaty, just one more agreement and then -- then we would all be safe.
Moreover, they fail to understand the Arab/Muslim mind. The Islamists are the agressors in this and they view capitulation as weakness. If you do not confront them, they will see it as an opening.

". Now I am really afraid of terrorism. I wasn't before.."
It's all about me, isn't it? Guess he doesn't know anyone who lost a family member in that unprovoked 911 attack, or hasn't been on the front lines in the US protecting his sorry rear from AlQuada.
Will these truly stupid people understand that no one has a problem with you speaking your mind. BUT you had better understand that criticism and consequences from the public will follow. That isn't a boycott. That isn't a blacklist. That isn't McCarthyism. It is a choice as much as you have a choice to speak, I have a choice to condemn.

Well he did survive a shark attack so two burning buildings on TV wouldn't frighten this brave man.

"Bush is doing everything he can to make you look unpatriotic if you disagree with him. What is Bush doing to make them look unpatriotic?
They keep saying this, they are so afraid that everyone will realize that's exactly what they are, deep inside, Anti-American.
To: wayoverontheright
You nailed it!
These people who say that Bush is making them look anti-American are practicing that well known psychological defense of Projection!

The First Amendment gurantees the right to free speech, not the right to ignorance. Someone should tell mister scheider that protesting from the safety and comfort of the Hamptons doesn't really demonstrate much "self sacrifice". It's pathetic, really.
Also someone should mention to roy that the terroists will make no distinction between those that support America and those that are anti-American: we are all infidels in their eyes and both worthy of firey death. If I'm going down from some terrorist attack it's gonna be with me putting up resistence not whimpering and pissing off some whiney nonsense from the safe confines of The Hamptons. Ya know what I mean? Get a job roy!
