Er, I don't think anybody was expecting the USA to lose this war. Except Chrisie Hynde and her ilk and fans.

the V is for our troops. I'll use the W when the election gets closer. It's very appropriate. The "V for Victory" theme was used throughout WWII.
In fact, Beethoven's Fifth was played throughout that war for its "dit dit dit dah" motif (Morse Code V).
I ordered up a big mess of Victory fries (rather than French fries) last night.
And then of course there's the "Victory Kiss" in place of ............. never mind.

From the five we targeted, thus far we have had credible "leaks" that a PLO terrorist is dead, also looks like the elder son is gone.... This a.m. there is widespread info that Saddam was hit and is dead or "gravely injured."
Folks, is this not the old joke about the cat on the roof?
HOWEVER, has anyone come across ANYTHING regarding the far crazier younger offspring. The one with enough evil to be considered the antichrist in some dark novels.....Also, has anyone been noted to have recovered with a "head" wound.... just saying that some of us believe that the Bible is a LITERAL guide, and the TRUTH will unfold.
At the same time, I must say that one of my favorite daydream indulgences right now is to have the Oscars preempted by news that the liberation of Iraq has been completed and is a total success. When they finally get around to the ceremony in a few days how does someone spout an anti-America (it is NOT about the war) speech without totally unmasking themselves and vaporizing their career choice....which, like it or not, continues only through the support of an appreciative public, many of whom include folks like me who have a very narrow list of actors still in good standing and worthy of support at the box office. (Forgive the run-on, stream of thought style here, embellishments anyone?)

I heard on the radio that eye witnesses say Saddam was taken from the bunker on a stretcher, wearing an oxygen mask. The radio said it was reported on the ABC website? ABC reported it anyway.

I also think it was the real one on the video.

The place was bombed. Of course medical teams raced to the scene.
Duh.

" Except Chrisie Hynde and her ilk and fans."
Listening to Dan Ruther y'day and he seemed positively disheartened that he was unable to count American casualties. YET, and if we are being told the truth, or something like that.

I wonder how Kim Jong-Il is feeling these days. The little fat dumpling has been awful quiet recently, eh?

Since I haven't heard anything on the tv about witnesses seeing Saddam removed on a stretcher, I am guessing that the radio station, must have been given bad info?

Duh, indeed? Do you think this is the US with its efficient and democratic ambulance, emergency-response service? Looks to me like what we would expect the elites in the 3rd-world to enjoy. That masses of EMRs show up is a decent enough indication of the importance of those inside.

It's impossible to keep up with all the posts and rumors, etc. on this, but you're the first one I've seen post what I've been feeling.
Remember those old Western movies when the good guys (cavalry, cowboys, etc.) move into a town with little or no resistance? Most of them are whooping it up and high fiving on a victory but there's always one guy (we hope it's the one in charge) who says something like "It's quiet in here...TOO quiet!" Right before all hell breaks loose. I call it the "Rock Ridge" scenario ala Blazing Saddles.
That's the same feeling I'm getting here, except w/o the comedy relief. Hussein or his senior command may be drawing folks in toward Baghdad and intending to go out in a blaze of CBW glory.
I really hope I'm wrong, but as Quasimodo said, it's just a hunch I've got...

I wonder how Kim Jong-Il is feeling these days.
Like he needs to add another 100 feet of depth and 14 more feet of concrete to HIS bunker... :)

It seems logical, with what Uday, Saddam's son said the other day....that the mothers and wives of our soldiers will weep blood from their eyes, and that they would send our soldiers home in body bags, "...by the thousands".
I'm very worried about the drone airplanes. Or, some attack similar to the Marine Barracks truck bombing in Lebanon, under Reagan's watch.

"My boss, the President of the United States wants to know if you all want some of our Whop Ass on your heads? If not start acting like normal people instead of thugs like Soddomite! If I were in the position to make that phone call I would tell them this.....
My boss wants me to let you know that if you ever mention the words Nuclear and United States Interests in the same sentence again we will use the Shock and Awe method to make you forget you were ever born.
These "leaders" now know that it isn't just buildings and the "little people" that will die if we engage in battle with them, but that we intend to pull the root instead of cutting down the tree branch by branch. They have been hiding in schools and civilian homes too long and we are out to make sure that doesn't happen anymore.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

B-117? That's F-117, even though it probably SHOULD be B-117. The three digit numerical designation identifies it as a "fighter-bomber", like the F-111. Basically, it's a highly maneuverable bomber with some measure of air-to-air combat capability.
