This seems like "good" data to me. I'm betting on this article as being the best description of what happened, how we got the intel, and the "wounds" (overpressure/shock wave injuries to ear drums, etc).

I think this report that he is alive but hurt is plausible. (It fits my overall belief--which is that the Iraqis have been lying in their pretense that he was able to make a post-attack address to the nation. [I was working with their first report that he was not unscathed.])
