"Other evils may come; for Sauron himself is but a servant or emissary. Yet it is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succor of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule." -Gandalf to the Captains of the West

We now have three threads going on this one event. Excellent catch, all, but suggest we cull the herd.

Fairy tale wisdom. Swell. What next? Mother Goose? There is wisdom in stories that survive through the ages.

Many Grimm's Fairy Tales -- in their orginial versions, not cleaned up -- are nasty and bloody and awful.

I prefer to reference "The Little Red Hen" when discussing other countries' participation (or lack thereof) in the war and the rebuilding efforts. Aesop, anyone?

Many Grimm's Fairy Tales -- in their orginial versions, not cleaned up -- are nasty and bloody and awful. Yes, exactly, but they showed the ways of the world in vivid, understandable tones.
Would that today's children got the same instruction about evil.
