It goes much deeper than that. The source of the Nile-of-protesters is money from communist organizations that moved around a bit after the fall of the Soviet Union. They never went away, just laid low for awhile.

Their tactics have not changed in 100 years, and can be quite effective, if nobody is brave enough to stand up to them.

Ronald Reagan stood up to them in the late '40's, in Hollywoood (surprise), and did it again as President.

Bush is doing the same. That's why they hate him.
