"Here Was A Man"
(To be spoken--Johnny Cash-like--over a lonely keyboard version of "Joy to the World")

"Here was a man...a man who was born in a small village, the son of a peasant woman. He grew up in another small village. Until He reached the age of thirty, He worked as a carpenter; then, for three years, He was a travelling minister. But He never travelled more than two hundred miles from where He was born, and where He did go, He usually walked. He never held political office, He never wrote a book, He never bought a home, He never had a family, He never went to college, and He never set foot inside a big city, yet...here was a man.

Here was a man...though He never did one of those things that you usually associate with greatness, He had no credentials but Himself. He had nothing to do with this World, except through the Divine Purpose that brought Him to this World.

While He was still a young man, the Tide of Popular Opinion turned against Him. Most of His FRiends ran away...one of them denied Him, one of them betrayed Him and turned Him over to his Enemies. Then, He went through the mockery of a Trial and was nailed to a Roman Cross between two thieves. And even while He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had in this World, and that was His robe, His Purple Robe. When He was dead, He was taken down from the cross and laid in a borrowed grave, provided by a compassionate FRiend.

More than Nineteen Centuries have come and gone, and today He's the Centerpiece of the Human Race, Our Leader, and the Column to Human Destiny. And I think I'm well within the mark when I say that All of the Armies that Ever Marched, All of the Navies that Ever Sailed, All of the Legislative Bodies that Ever Sat, and All of the Kings that Ever Reigned...All of Them Put Together have not affected the Life of Man on this Earth so Powerfully as that One Solitary Life...

Here was a man."

My six-year-old daughter and I were driving along yesterday, listening to our new Christmas CD we had just picked up from Staples Office Supply, when this "song" came on and we both stopped chatting and listened intently. I explained--halfway through--that Mr. Cash was talking about Jesus. Then, after the song was over, JessieLee looked up at me and said, "Daddy, why didn't Jesus have a family?" Temporarily shocked by her natural incisiveness, I mumbled a silly answer about not meeting the right mommy, but the question has been on my mind ever since. So, Jessica, here's the answer Daddy meant to say, "Jesus never had a family because All of Us are His Family, All of Us are His Brothers and Sisters, All of Us are His Children!!"

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan or not...Happy Holidays to Each and Every One of You Wonderful FReepers...You have become MY extended family!!

Cheerfully Humble FReegards...MUD

Mornin' people.

Haven't had much time fer FReepin' lately.

Between rehearsin' the band, gigs, rehearsin' a new acoustic duo thing I'm doin' with a girl singer , puttin' together a jazz/blues quartet to keep myself sane, 32 students, and gettin' my tax stuff together, I haven't had a minute to breathe!

Glad to see you guys are keepin' it up.

BTW. The peaceniks are really startin' to get my goat. Had to restrain myself from committing a "violent act" yesterday. These people are too stupid to waste my knuckles on.

Also BTW. Landru.............it's practice time!

Probably not going to make the MRC dinner, Mud, as it happens. Busy week. Signed up to do Red Cross disaster training Wednesday night, and that should take a lot out of me. Have to leave some gas in the tank for this weekend, when I plan to attend the PA rallies.

My ol' man, The Cap'n, just sent me this...

"Last week, the Shelby County Alabama Legislative Delegation hosted a "Stand Up for America Rally." More than 1,200 people attended including featured speakers Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, State Adjutant General Mark Bowen and State Auditor Beth Chapman. Attached is a copy of Mrs. Chapman's speech, which resulted in five standing ovations, tremendous applause and an encore. It's a short read and well worth it."

"Stand Up for America Rally Speech"

"I'm here tonight because men and women of the United States military have given their lives for my freedom. I am not here tonight because Sheryl Crowe, Rosie O'Donnell, Martin Sheen, George Clooney, Jane Fonda or Phil Donahue, sacrificed their lives for me. If my memory serves me correctly, it was not movie stars or musicians, but the United States Military who fought on the shores of Iwo Jima, the jungles of Vietnam, and the beaches of Normandy.

"Tonight, I say we should support the President of the United States and the U.S. Military and tell the liberal, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing, hippy, tie-dyed liberals to go make their movies and music and whine somewhere else. After all, if they lived in Iraq, they wouldn't be allowed the freedom of speech they're being given here today. Ironically, they would be put to death at the hands of Soddom Husssein [or Osama Bil Clinton!!!]"

"I want to know how the very people who are against war because of the loss of life, can possibly be the same people who are for abortion? They are the same people who are for animal rights but against the rights of the unborn. The movie stars say they want to go to Iraq and serve as "human shields" for the Iraqis. I say let them buy a one-way ticket and go. No one likes war. I hate war! But the one thing I hate more is the fact that this country has been forced into war--innocent people have lost their lives--and there but for the grace of God, it could have been my brother, my husband, or even worse my own son."

"On December 7, 1941, there are no records of movie stars treading the blazing waters of Pearl Harbor.

"On September 11, 2001; there are no photos of movie stars standing as "human shields" against the debris and falling bodies ascending from the World Trade Center. There were only policemen and firemen--underpaid civil servants who gave their all with nothing expected in return."

"When the USS Cole was bombed, there were no movie stars guarding the ship--where were the human shields then? If America's movie stars want to be human shields, let them shield the gang-ridden streets of Los Angeles, or New York City, let them shield the lives of the children of North Birmingham whose mothers lay them down to sleep on the floor each night to shelter them from stray bullets. If they want to be human shields, I say let them shield the men and women of honesty and integrity who epitomize courage and embody the spirit of freedom by wearing the proud uniforms of the United States Military. Those are the people who have earned and deserve shielding!!

"Throughout the course of history, this country has remained free, not because of movie stars and liberal activists, but because of brave men and women who hated war too. However, they lay down their lives so that we all may live in freedom. After all - "What greater love hath no man, that he lay down his life for his friend," or in this case a country.

"We should give our military honor and acknowledgement and not let their lives be in vain. If you want to see true human shields, walk through Arlington Cemetery. There lie human shields, heroes, and the BRAVE Americans who didn't get on television and talk about being a human shield--They Were HumanShields!!

"I thank God tonight for freedom--those who bought and paid for it with their lives in the past--those who will protect it in the present and defend it in the future. America has remained silent too long! God-fearing people have remained silent too long! We must lift our voices united in a humble prayer to God for guidance and the strength and courage to sustain us throughout whatever the future may hold. After the tragic events of Sept. 11th, my then eleven-year-old son said terrorism is a war against US and Them and if you're not one of US, then you're one of Them!!

"So in closing tonight, let us be of one accord, let us stand proud, and let us be the human shields of prayer, encouragement and support for the President, our troops and their families and our country. May God bless America, the land of the free, the home of the brave and the greatest country on the face of this earth!"

Gov. Mark R. Warner yesterday vetoed the estate-tax repeal and the controversial "Choose Life" license plate while seeking to soften bills he views as unjustified restrictions on abortion.

SEN SHELBY BUMP!

Less is Moore…

Corollary: The utility of useful-idiot Hollywood varies directly with the box office.

Not only did Hollywood give Moore a standing O, they voted for Moore to get the Oscar in the first place.

Hollywood anticipated a more nuanced acceptance speech from Moore; indeed, Hollywood expected Moore's win to speak for itself… and for them (the hypocritical cowards)!

But Moore is too dim-witted to have understood that calculus.

LEHRER: President Bush, your closing statement, sir.

PRESIDENT BUSH: Three weeks from now--two weeks from tomorrow, America goes to the polls and you're going to have to decide who you want to lead this country ...

On foreign affairs, some think it's irrelevant. I believe it's not. We're living in an interconnected world...And if a crisis comes up, ask who has the judgment and the experience and, yes, the character to make the right decision?

And, lastly, the other night on character Governor Clinton said it's not the character of the president but the character of the presidency. I couldn't disagree more. Horace Greeley said the only thing that endures is character. And I think it was Justice Black who talked about great nations, like great men, must keep their word.

And so the question is, who will safeguard this nation, who will safeguard our people and our children? I need your support, I ask for your support. And may God bless the United States of America.

Hear clinton stupidity, smallness, banality, fecklessness, ineptitude, prevarication, corruption, perfidy and utter failure directly from the rapist, himself. clinton provides the perfect foil for Bush, who makes a cameo appearance or two.

Pay special attention to Dan Rather's little story about terrorism hitting the U.S. "bigtime" during the clintons' tenure.

In particular, connect the following dots: the '93 WTC bombing. a certain bin Laden protégé and clinton's admission that he passed up bin Laden. Note clinton's spurious argument for this monumental failure.

To this day, clinton seems not to understand that bin Laden is -- and was in 1996 -- an enemy of the state, not a simple criminal.

clinton still seems not to get it -- the same terrorist --the terrorist he refused to take--hit the same building in '93.

Notwithstanding this, to hear clinton tell it, his disastrous decision not to take bin Laden when offered on a silver platter by Sudan, (arguably the worst decision ever made by a president), derived from his scrupulous avoidance of abusing power and trashing laws...

Yeah, right.

HEAR:

  • the attacks on America

  • Dan Rather ruminating on the terrorism that came to America "bigtime" during clinton years

  • Dan Rather relating OBL protégé, Ramzi Yousef threat to clinton FBI that the terrorists WILL complete the job

  • the clinton non-response to terror

  • FDR response (says national security a president's raison d'être)

  • Bush response:
    "I can hear YOU...,"

"I [as opposed to clinton] will not wait on events, while dangers gather," etc.

  • Mike Moran "Osama bin Laden, you can kiss my royal Irish ass" battle cry

  • "go home hillary!" chant, etc.

A Fish Rots from the Head

Investor's Business Daily

Ijaz, an admitted Clinton supporter who helped negotiate these opportunities to nab bin Laden, said, "The silence of the Clinton administration in responding to these offers was deafening."

Ijaz says that three months before bin Laden's men blew up the USS Cole in Yemen, he "brought the White House another plausible offer to deal with bin Laden, by then known to be involved in the embassy bombings (in Tanzania and Kenya)... But senior Clinton officials sabotaged the offer."

Clinton's apparent boredom with vital information extended beyond Sudanese intelligence officers to his own intelligence officers. His first CIA director, James Woolsey, couldn't get a meeting with Clinton in the two years he served. Woolsey left the Clinton administration disgusted with its slovenly approach to national security. ...

To hear Clinton now say "We must do more to reduce the pool of potential terrorists" is thus beyond farce. He had numerous opportunities to reduce that pool, and he blew it.

The pool, in fact, grew larger on Clinton's watch, as he spent his final days giving pardons to drug dealers, Puerto Rican terrorists and Marc Rich, a fugitive who topped America's most-wanted list.

Mia T, 12-09-01

Clinton's failure to grasp the opportunity to unravel increasingly organized extremists, coupled with Berger's assessments of their potential to directly threaten the U.S., represents one of the most serious foreign policy failures in American history

Clinton Let Bin Laden Slip Away and Metastasize

Bill Clinton may not be the worst president America has had, but surely he is the worst person to be president.*

-GEORGE WILL, Sleaze, the sequel

Had George Will written Sleaze, the sequel (the "sequel" is, of course, hillary) after 9-11-01, I suspect that he would have had to forgo the above conceit, as the doubt expressed in the setup phrase was, from that day forward, no longer operational.

Indeed, assessing the clinton presidency an abject failure is not inconsistent with commentary coming from the left, most recently the LA Times: "Clinton Let Bin Laden Slip Away and Metastasize."

When the clintons left office, I predicted that the country would eventually learn--sadly, the hard way--that this depraved, self-absorbed and inept pair had placed America (and the world) in mortal danger. But I was thinking years, not months.

It is very significant that hillary clinton didn't deny clinton culpability for the terrorism. (Meet the Press, 12-09-01), notwithstanding tired tactics (if you can't pass the buck, spread the blame) and chronic "KnowNothing Victim Clinton" self-exclusion.

If leftist pandering keeps the disenfranchized down in perpetuity, clinton pandering,("it's the economy, stupid"), kept the middle and upper classes wilfully ignorant for eight years.

And ironically, both results (leftist social policy and the clinton economy) are equally illusory, fraudulent. It is becoming increasingly clear that clinton covertly cooked the books even as he assiduously avoided essential actions that would have negatively impacted the economy--the ultimate source of his continued power--actions like, say, going after the terrorists.

It is critically important that hillary clinton fail in her grasp for power; read Peggy Noonan's little book, 'The Case Against Hillary Clinton' and Barbara Olson's two books; it is critical that the West de-clintonize, but that will be automatic once it is understood that the clintons risked civilization itself in order to gain and retain power.

It shouldn't take books, however, to see that a leader is a dangerous, self-absorbed sicko. People should be able to figure that out for themselves. The electorate must be taught to think, to reason. It must be able to spot spin, especially in this age of the electronic demagogue.

I am not hopeful. As Bertrand Russell noted, "Most people would sooner die than think; in fact, they do so. "

*George Will continues: There is reason to believe that he is a rapist ("You better get some ice on that," Juanita Broaddrick says he told her concerning her bit lip), and that he bombed a country to distract attention from legal difficulties arising from his glandular life, and that. ... Furthermore, the bargain that he and his wife call a marriage refutes the axiom that opposites attract. Rather, she, as much as he, perhaps even more so, incarnates Clintonism

Thanks fer the following, bn4f!! Those who are easily-offended, please skip...

"SIPPIN' VODKA!!"

"A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done. The monsignor replied, "When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip." So next Sunday he took the monsignor's advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink. He proceeded to talk up a storm. Upon his return to his office after mass, he found the following note on the door:

"1. Sip the Vodka, don't gulp. 2. There are 10 commandments, not 12. 3. There are 12 disciples, not 10. 4. Jesus was consecrated, not constipated. 5. Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass. 6. We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J. C. 7. The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the Spook. 8. David slew Goliath, he did not kick the shit out of him. 9. When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don't say he was stoned off his ass. 10. We do not refer to the cross as the "Big T." 11. When Jesus broke the bread at the Last Supper he said, "Take this and eat it for it is my body." He did not say "Eat me" 12. The Virgin Mary is not called "Mary with the Cherry," 13. The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, yeah God."

"Bulletin: FellowShip of the Willing Attacks Mordor!! DemonRATs & Orcs Protest!!"

"As war with Mordor looms on the edge of the horizon, peace protestors gathered today before the Black Gate in a demonstration against the actions of Gandalf the Wizard and the Fellowship of the Willing. “We’re here because we believe that war is wrong,” said Eldohil, president of Elves for Peace. Pointing to the Dagorlad before him, he said, “This very place is a testimony to the uselessness and destruction of war.” Protestors carried signs that said “Peace for Middle-Earth” and “Who would Iluvatar kill?” Elsewhere Gondorians paraded through the streets of Minas Tirith in opposition to the Lord Denethor’s support of the Fellowship of the Willing.

"All this is in light of Chief Secretary Frodo Baggins’ speech before the White Council last week, in which he outlined the case against Mordor. Secretary Baggins presented never before revealed evidence regarding the Dark Lord Sauron’s aggressive military buildup. He presented diagrams of the refortifications of Barad-Dur, the chief stronghold of the Dark Lord, and of new fortifications within the Ash Mountains and the Mountains of Shadow. Baggins also argued strongly that Sauron has been aiding and abetting Easterlings and Haradians. But perhaps most surprising was his revelation of the One Ring, evidence that the Fellowship of the Willing sees as incontrovertible proof of Sauron’s desire to dominate Middle-Earth.

"This revelation seemed to excite the nine black-robed delegates of Mordor, who promptly began to scream and chase Secretary Baggins around the chamber until they were subdued. Despite the strong case made by Secretary Baggins, Rivendell and Lothlorien, longtime allies of the Fellowship of the Willing, still expressed their unwillingness to go to war against Mordor. “We believe that this conflict can still be resolved peacefully,” said Haldir, White Council delegate from Lothlorien. “We believe it is important that Gandalf the Wizard have the full support of Middle-Earth before entering into any armed conflict with Sauron.”

Haldir a Corrupt WUSSIE PUNK, IMHO, and in League with Sauron...MUD

"The delegation from Rivendell offered no comments, only saying that the Lord Elrond was in the middle of talks with Gandalf. In response to the statements of its allies, the Fellowship of the Willing stressed the danger of delay and the need for strong action against Mordor. “Sauron has had 3,000 years to disarm, time enough to comply with the demands of the White Council,” said Gandalf the Wizard. “Sauron is not disarming; he is deceiving.” Meanwhile, the Fellowship of the Willing continues to buildup its military presence around Mordor. Commander Elessar, in charge of the Fellowship’s armed forces, has said that the Fellowship will be ready for war if the word comes. “Our soldiers are prepared to complete their mission,” he said in a recent press conference at the White Tower, the Fellowship’s military command center. Also providing military support in the event of war are the Fellowship’s allies Rohan and Gondor.

"Anti-war activists say that they are planning to continue their protests. “Gandalf the Wizard is nothing but a bully who wants to control all Middle-Earth, even if that means destroying innocent orcs. We want to make that known, and we will not stop protesting until we are heard,” said Firnor Greenleaf of Mirkwood. The White Council is expected to vote on a new resolution regarding Mordor next week. Diplomats from the Fellowship will spend the weekend meeting with representatives from Rivendell and Lothlorien in order to convince them to support the resolution."

"Desert rats AMBUSH Iraqi Fanatics in Bold Raid!!"

"The Desert Rats killed 20 of Saddam Hussein's most fanatical followers in a daring raid, it was revealed today. The men of Zulu Company of the Royal Fusiliers, part of the Desert Rats, launched a daring night-time attack on the local Ba'ath party headquarters in Basra in the most dramatic action yet by UK forces in the Gulf. The First Amendment does not protect seditious speech against the United States. It never did and never will.
