For us non-medical types, all I want to know is - Am I or my loved ones going to get sick and die?

Well, if what they've found is really the source of the disease, neither antibiotics nor sulfa drugs will do doodly-squat to stop it. AIDS aside, the usual Western approach to treating viruses involve a) vaccination, or b) treating the symptoms, thus keeping the patient alive long enough for the immune system to beat the virus.
Look for at least one colloidal silver enthusiast to poke his head in this thread before it's over. (It's like a tinfoil hat that you swallow.)

It doesn't look like it. Most of these are spread by close personal contact so a little quarantine of the infected people plus our modern medicine should be adequate.
I would, however, recommend plastic wrap and duct tape for the windows.

As to whether your loved ones are going to get sick and die - yes, eventually. Nobody gets out of this life alive (except what's his name who got taken up into Heaven in a cloud).

Ari Fleicher: Yes. Next question please.

There is no need to be concerned at this point.
This is an exotic disease in a far off land. Some people who are going to Asia are returning infected.
Some freepers study and work with these little bugs and find them fascinating. We tend to get excited when events like this occur.
I am sorry it took so long to respond, this has been a very hectic morning.
And I am sorry if this thread in any way caused you concern for your family.
We are just trying to learn
Regards..
