In my neck of the woods, there's been a modified " Code Orange" for quite some time ( based on observations of military air traffic, heightened police presence, etc. )
They just haven't announced it as such.

DHS "codes" are for Federal agencies and facilities only. States, and even cities, especially NYC, operate independently and on different criteria. I think NYC has remained on "orange" or an equivalent since the system was enacted, or, more properly, since 9-11.

Yeah, me too. Last night I woke up hearing sirens from a local fire station. A normal thing that happens a couple times a month, but it was the boom from the sound of speed being broken about five minutes later that got the pulse going.
