Look at all the PR damage the DC's have inflicted on themselves without yet returning to the US. Their US tour is going to give each US city on the schedule their opportunity to let the DC's know exactly what they think about Natlie's free speech exercise (the only exercise she apparently engages in). This thing is going to drag on for a long time. I have a hard time evisioning how they can pull themselves out of this.

If this keeps up the only "acceptable" CD left will be "Charlie Daniels Sings Ted Nugent's Greatest Hits"You seem to be confused. This is not government censorship of music. These are free people choosing not to spend their money on an artist they don't agree with. Do you only support free speech when its acceptable to you?
To: murphyb
I suppose these "artists" never heard about STANDING UP FOR AMERICA. Why should they, many other Americans do, most of all those in military uniform. I hope they enjoy their lives living in another country where they don't have to apologize for its leader - like Cuba?
To: happydogdesign
!LOL! That's just too funny. Great work!

Hopefully, Nat will have a nervous breakdown and cancel the American tour. I have heard all sorts of talk about trashing the upcoming tour.
If they wanted to get over this, they'd do a freebee to all the places our troups are stationed. Posting words on a website by one of your staff takes little effort. If she's really sorry, she'd make a personal apology to Pres. Bush and she'd go on the road for our troups.

I know I am going to get flamed for this but why is there so much talk about this one woman. She is only one of so many "stars" who have spoken badly about the president, and yet she gets all the press coverage on Free Republic it seems.
Will somebody please splain this to me.

"However, I believe that people can support the troops and not the war. "Of course they can. And we can choose to NOT support those people.
We can trash them for their idiocy. We can boycott their albums, and their movies. We can show them that their words have consequences.
Sean Penn is blacklisted, and so are the Dixie Chicks.

This was one lame appology.
She respects Bush because he holds the office.
She doesn't respect him otherwise.

I see this as a particular slap at Texas and our particular brand of patriotism, plus a personal slap at our President.
The thought of a Texas-based group making such outrageous commentary is particularly offensive to us...
Hope this 'splainin' helps.
To: diamond6
Because her fan base is 85% conservative. Her stupidity was truely amazing.

I think they are history! I support Bush and so does most of us TEXANS as well as Americans. She is a 27 year old spoild brat. I hope those who had tickets will not show at their over priced concerts.

Just left the following "fan letter" to dear, sweet, Nat:
"Hey Natalie, You have the right to your opinions about your President, but your fans have the right to vote with their wallets. I sure hope you have good financial advisors, who can help you keep the money you already have, 'cause I have a feeling the gravy train just left town without you 3 "girls".
A disgusted ex-fan"

The whole Dixie Chick popularity to me has the appearance of a passing fad... I just never suspected they would have the longevity of Reba, the Judds, etc. The stupid anti-Bush statement, IMHO, is just the catalyst for the declining fan base.
I have never been a fan of the Chicks and strongly suspect that their entire popularity was a clever record company publicity campaign to generate a fan base for an all female country band. Play a group's songs long enough and often enough and hopefully people will think that everyone loves this music style.
The Chicks do have a few good songs, but IMHO there are many other more talented (and more country) musicians who do not get whiff of the ad money/air time the Chicks have.
