I snet this article to the rest of clan noumenon with the following commentary:

This is where I strongly disagree with the author of this article. The liberal/socialist Left can only achieve their utopian dreams of power and control at the barrel of a gun. They do not tolerate anyone who disagrees with them – a fact that you will discover once you hit the university. Opinions outside the liberal/socialist orthodoxy are shouted down and otherwise attacked. Speakers advocating ideas essential to individual freedom and responsibility have been assaulted on college campuses; college newspapers that dare to print anything other than liberal/socialist, America-hating ideas are routinely stolen and burned by the liars and haters on the liberal/Left. This isn’t hyperbole or exaggeration – these are well-documented cases and there are many of them. The great irony is that those who howl the most about ‘free speech’ and civil rights are those who are the first to deny them to those with whom they disagree.

Consider this: those who support monsters and murderers, those who, by their actions provide them with aid and comfort are as guilty as the monsters themselves. The blood of those slaughtered by the communist/socialist dictators of the 20th Century is on the hands of those in this country who excused their actions and applauded them. If a liberal socialist denies that the blood of innocents is on their hands, ask them this: “Are you saying, then that the people who attended the 1930s Nurembug rallies of the National Socialist Party of Germany, the people who cheered themselves hoarse and applauded them with the rapt expressions of the true believer weren’t in any responsible for what the Nazis did? Are you saying that the German people didn’t have any say in putting the Nazis into power? Are you telling me that it was nobody’s fault and that the Nazis just flew down in flying saucers and took over, Darth Vader-like?”

The answer, of course, is that nothing of the sort happened - it took an entire culture to empower monsters like the Nazis. Eric Voegelin, one of the great philosophers of the late, lamented 20th Century tells us that the rise of the Nazis and the unspeakable atrocities that they committed were not the product of one madman nor even of a deranged elite – it was necessary for German society as a whole to participate and to enable the slaughter of 21 million people in the camps and by the Einsatzgruppen. Voegelin tells us that it was a spiritual disease that allowed the German society of the time to give free reign to the Nazis – and that even though the Germans lost the war, the roots of that same spiritual disease remained intact. Goes a long way towards explaining why the Germans aren’t helping us now, doesn’t it?  The smug, America-hating intellectuals in the universities and the howling anti-war mobs in the streets all share the common pedigree of that same spiritual malaise. It’s why you cannot reason or argue with them. They’re really not interested in the truth. They’re not interested in reason. They don’t care about what’s right and what’s wrong – they claim that the concepts of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ are the products of ignorance and bigotry.

They are all interested in power, however. And that’s the power they crave to remake the world in the image of their sick, Utopian dreams. Again, the sad, sorry history of the 20th Century shows that every time the Utopian power-lusters got the upper hand, millions of people died, and millions more lived in poverty, ignorance and slavery.

That’s the pedigree of the Left, dear family.  It’s a legacy of mass murder and slavery, a heritage of slaughter and impoverishment – and a promise of more of the same if they ever get the upper hand again.  And that’s why we must all stand up and fight these murderous bastards with everything we have.  There’s no curing the spiritually ill of their disease.  They can neither be argued nor reasoned out of it. They can only be fought. One of the great lessons of history is that those who failed to speak up, those who lacked the courage to fight came to no good end. It’s better to die with a rifle in your hands than to look at the world through someone else’s barbed wire. But it’s even better to make those with the barbed wire ambitions die before they can put up the fences and put others – and you – behind them.

That's a keeper. If the left does regain power, they'll try to nail a lid on it for good.
