I was merely "stirring the pot." Time to eat!

"Didn't his momma teach him not to use profanity?" You gotta speak the language of your audience. I thought the profanity was a bit over the edge, but the message, complete with profanities, undoubtedly hit the mark and made some of these spoiled brats think. I have nothing but respect for someone who will stand up and boldly and publicly say what needs to be said and political correctness be d*mned!

By the time I went through basic training, they weren't allowed to swear at us, so my TI called us her little heathens. That was 23 years ago. I can only imagine what kind of namby-pamby stuff must go on now, though I hope not.

I couldn't help but notice both your location, noted in your FReeper profile, and the wealth of military experience you've gathered since those days we don't quite seem to be able to forget.
If your plans for your reactivation don't go as smoothly as you hope and you'd care to take a few little heathens of your own under your wing in hopes they might be a little better future officers and leaders than the run of the mill, give me a FReepmail when you get the chance.
And don't forget that when you Aim High, there's less of a chance of shooting yourself in the foot.

So far, it's on track! (It helps when the new State Adjutant General is your former Wing Commander) I never thought I would be "unretiring" when I left in August 2001. But it seemed the only choice to make after 9-11. I hope to have my officer brother swear me in, if he doesn't end up getting deployed!
Basic training certainly makes a lasting impression. And my early days of Air Defense, during the Cold War, left me with some interesting stories to tell!

About a month and a half ago Sammy Hagar was on the "Bob And Tom" radio show and said that Ted had come down to Sammy's bar/resort Cabo Wabo in Mexico, and had tried tequila for the first time (Sammy's brand is apparently much more pure and authentic and preferable to what you usually buy for a number of reasons I won't go into) and loved it.
"Fifty years of sobriety and you get me to fall in love with this sh*t," (or something very close to that) Ted reportedly told Sammy, who now says he's sent cases of the primo "rhino cum" (as Ted used to refer to liquor) up to his buddy's abode.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
But is there a hint of hypocrisy going on here? Anyone else hear this interview?

While I am very mindful as to the lyrical content of the music brought into my home, I realize that Nugent's political message may reach those...uh...coarser elements of the Converative movement.
Proud? Not particularly, but not especially embarrassed either.

IMHO, Gonzo believes sobriety should be the DrugOfChoice fer most folks, but I doubt he would outlaw tequila--or the EvilWeed--fer the rest of US...MUD

WHO reported it? The liberal Media?
"But is there a hint of hypocrisy going on here?
Nope.
I can tell you all with confidence, that Ted Nugent cares about kids, and has a great respect for the elderly.
His hunting mentor was an old man named Fred Bear, who has passed away. Ted has written a song in his memory, and included some of Freds words to kids in the song.
Mudboy Slim, you've seen the picture of Ted Nugents kid. For the rest of you folks, here he is, posed with a big buck he had just shot.
Ted Nugents son
do you think hes got a respect for human life, unlike inner-city gang banger kids that have NEVER been out in the woods?
This is a young man that will grow up with a respect for his family, and for human life, as well as wildlife.
Ted isn't trying to outlaw alcohol, or tobacki. Just showin' folks ya don't need it to enjoy life. If Columbine High school had brought Ted Nugent in, and invited those high school kids to go through his archery/hunting camp, I would wager that the tragedy wouldn't have happened.

"Ted Nugents kid" Looks EXACTLY like his Ol' Man...Zackley!! 'Cept fer the long hair, which had me assuming--there's that word again--that ALL long-haired Rock'n'Rollers drank and/or did drugs!! With many musicians, this stereotype did indeed turn out to be true, but it is interesting to me to find out that Nugent was a Tee-Totaler.
Great post, my FRiend, on an interesting thread, IMHO...MUD
