A well thought out analysis. It is simular to my own. You never hear the French mention that the only reason the inspectors are in place is because of the massive presence of American forces, which cannot be maintained indefinitely.
The French, Germans, and Russians all have economic interests in Iraq, and are quite willing to accept the cost of Iraqi blood for their oil money. In addition, once Iraqi oil starts flowing again, the oil price will drop and Russia's oil income will drop with it.

It's rare to find clear thinking about Iraq, but this guy has it nailed (although his brief take on the oil situation seems a bit of a throwaway).

First time I've seen that the U.S.-Saudi agreement runs out in 2005.

Interesting analysis

Very good analysis from the Indian point of view. Just to add that this is the advise the Indian Foreign minister gave to the Indian PM, but the PM ignored the advise to articulate the UN point of view. Remember that the UN equates all forms of governments as equal. Democracy or Dictorship is equivalent to the UN officials. That in itself negates the UN in my book.
