If England had gone in to unseat Adolf Hitler instead of sending Chamberlain to negotiate "Peace in our Times" they may have lost a few thousand lives instead of the ten million that were lost in Europe in the 30's and 40's. It is too bad that history is not taught either in the high schools or colleges of this great country. We need a "clean sweep" in Iraq and those that will not acknowledge it are ignorant of their stupidity.

The usual suspects showed up, along with the anarchists in black who tried to sit in the streets to block traffic, verbally harass passer-by, etc. The SFPD promptly arrested the troublemakers, but many hung around the sidewalks yelling at the capitalist swine who work for a living instead of expecting the government to support them. Ridiculous.

Contrary to the popular leftist take on evil, rich business people, many of the Financial District workers in San Francisco are not Republicans or conservative. They are quasi-liberals because it is fashionable in the San Francisco Bay Area to be so. They tend to parrot whatever the left-leaning news media spouts and vote Democrat. This sort of radical action by the apeaceniks does little to further San Fransican Bay Area views to the left, IMHO. If anything, it probably annoys many of the residents/workers who dislike having their traffic and lives disrupted. It may even make many of them re-think their shallow political beliefs...or, at the least, support President Bush just out of spite. :-)

Whenever I hear that approach being touted by Leftists, I just shake my head and say, "Be glad you live in a civilized and free society that permits such conduct. If you lived in the Muslim world (which you so strongly defend), you women wouldn't have a say on whether or not you wanted sex. You'd either consent or be raped...and then beaten for not consenting in the first place. Think about that you're defending..."

Tends to shut 'em up real quick.

Eleni, the commies became ideological orphans after the collapse of communism in the mid-80's. They lost their whole identity. The only thing they could salvage is the anti-Americanism, which was always an integral part of communist propaganda. (And I might say their anti-Americanism is actually anti-Semitism in disguise). So, yes, they have re-grouped but in a way which is as self-defeating as the original ideology.
