Sorry I missed you today. I had a free morning for a change, so I went looking here for today's Freep plans. Finding nothing, I headed downtown anyway, just to see what I might find. When I saw the commotion along PA Ave, I figured there must be sumthin' up... I was thrilled to see the Saint Patrick's parade!

I headed out of town at 1:30 so as to listen to the President on my way out.

I ended up yesterday evening in Columbia, MD after work to help a friend move. I had an hour to kill before he arrived, so I wandered about. I came across two young hippie-wannabe's carrying a sign. "Where's the protest, dude?" I asked. "Dude, they're a bunch of professors from the college up the street." [Howard County Community College]. When I found them, around 5:30, they were breaking up. I decided to join them, anyway, to see what fun I could have. By the time I parked and got over, they were all gone. So I held a one-man Freep. I wrote out "Go USA! Go Bush" on the back of a cardboard shirt box.

No sooner than my little sign was up and I got the middle finger from some girl, about college age. That was the only one for my 45-minute freep. The rest of the time was all honks and thumbs up.

A skateboard carrying 15-year old kid showed up and started to chat. He was of the indoctrinated, but he was very bright and attentive. Poor kid, he got a thirty-minute Nicollo lecture on American history and geo-politics. I brought him round from the reason the condos across the street are ugly and McDonald's are everywhere, to why we're going to war (answer: because the American people will it). Getting there we visited the American Founding, Alexis de Tocqueville, the Civil War, the Civil Rights movement, the Cold War, and the distrous whatz-hiz-name President from the mid-1990s. At the end, the kid said, "Thanks for a different perspective." I hope he takes it to heart, if just a little bit.

Sorry I missed you guys at the Lincoln. What a place to be on this beautiful day!

Wow, sounds like a great FReep of one!

Nope, you didn't miss us at the Lincoln Memorial. We'll be having that Freep next Sunday at 1 p.m. (It's my personal hope that we'll at least see the beginning of some cherry blossoms, but they may come out later this year, they say.)

So come join us next weekend and keep up the good work! We speak for the majority of our citizens.
