VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AP) - Security forces at Vandenberg Air Force Base may use "deadly force" against protesters if they infiltrate the military complex if a war starts, officials said.
Some anti-war activists plan to trespass onto base grounds in hopes of disturbing Vandenberg's mission and to vandalize sensitive equipment they contend helps guide the war effort.

My husband serves on the boat that bears the late Admiral's namesake. *LOL* I've heard he was quite the character.

"This will be the "Kent State" for today's Peaceniks. It's exactly what the organizers want."
Actually it will be target practice for those armed with .223 and 9mm ammunition, not spray paint and signs. The protesters will be shot. Their bodies interned and sent in for an autopsy. Then returned to their families in a body bag. No big deal to me. If you can't read the signs, do do the crimes.

"Having the first round in MP shotguns be birdshot, and aiming for the legs, will be very convincing to the protestors.
Followup round of buckshot and slugs to center-mass will be even more convincing."
Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age, but the first MP should use a double barrel full of rock salt. Then if they didn't withdraw, introduce the protesters to the sound of the bolt pulling back, snapping peacefully into place, of an M60 emptying about 200 rounds at them.

But this time, we are at war.It doesn't matter if it happens on home turf. What do you think would happen if a senior citizen, or a pregnant woman, or a young teen girl or boy,....were killed, or fatally wounded, or disabled for life....? What do you think would happen to the service members that fired the fatal bullets? How many thousands of times would the pictures of the bloodied victims be shown on TV, in magazines, in books, on the internet....here and around the world? What would the family members (liberal or conservative) do? What would the lawyers do? What would you do?

These are all John Edwards supporters. He is for "the regular people". After seeing/hearing an M-60 fire a few rounds overhead, they won't have any trouble with constipation.

"What would you do?"
1. If I were the soldier, I would carry out my orders. One warning, one warning shot, one fatal shot.
2. If I were a lawyer, I'd give up sueing the military and sue the NEA. If the kid or idiot who got shot can't read, it has to be a liberal teacher's fault.
3. The pictures would not be run at all unless the military released them. If a media member takes them illegally on military property, he should be thrown into the brig for 60 days until the military finds time to put him on trial.
4. What would the family members do? Bury the ignorant sob I suppose.
5. What would I do? Since I'm long out of the military, after watching the fiasco on FNC, I'd open another beer and watch a hockey game. What is there to get upset about some dumb *SS who can't read getting shot?

They've been properly warned not to trespass or risk death. The risk is on their heads. Besides WHAT THE HELL WOULD A PREGNANT WOMAN OR AN ELDERLY PERSON BE DOING TRAMPING AROUND V-BASE?? ITS IN THE MIDDLE OF WILDERNESS!
"What do you think would happen to the service members that fired the fatal bullets?"
Its their job to protect the base and the US. Not only is it their job but their duty. How would they be able to distinguish between idiot protestors and possible terrorists? War is afterall an unpleasant scenario with many unfortuante moral qualms.
"How many thousands of times would the pictures of the bloodied victims be shown on TV, in magazines, in books, on the internet....here and around the world?"
So we should inhibit our processes on national security because we're concerned about it looking bad? Sheesh you should be Def. Sec. ASAP! What are you doing wasting ur time on FR?? Off to the Pentagon with ya!

I enforced a "deadly force" policy once. We had orders to shoot intruders if they came within 150 yards of a secure facility. ( cant mention names of anything)
Thankfully, no one came near. The locals knoew better, and knew why.
They were not playing. Deadly force policies are serious stuff, and totally legal.

But we would get over it.It's those who won't get over it that will be the big problem. They can't even get over the 2000 election. It would energize the opposition for generations. They would build memorials and hold annual services. They would trash the military and enlistments would likely fall off. It would be part of ever election cycle.... Bad idea.

These morons need to understand that once they step inside a military base, they are no longer, technically, in California, they are on Federal/Military property. The liberal protections of the land of fruits and nuts no longer apply.

>>>Tanks are glamourous and remarkably safe vehicles, easy and inexpensive to operate, hardly requiring any maintenance effort whatsoever,
LOL - great pics, and I hope all reading realize your line quoted above was *dripping* with sarcasm. I'm the son of an Armor officer, and I've seen tank crews swearing while breaking track. And those pics - whoa! There'd be a whole battalion of recovery crews swearing over those. Not even multiple M88's would make those easy jobs.
