Who would EVER have thought that we'd all be sitting here, talking about Elizabeth's RETURN?

It's almost like we've all been through some super-elaborate "Survivor" show together--and everyone survived!!

My sister is an office manager for a local contractor. She does background checks on everyone that they send out to do work for their business.

But my "Elizabeth likes living in Nature theory" comes to a crashing halt every time I look at those pictures of Mitchell and Barzee!

Those people are so bizarre. The fact that Elizabeth answered the police in that "Thou sayest" lingo tells me that she was definitely influenced/brainwashed by the two. I just hope that she can re-enter the world without the media stalking her every move and that her parents stay away from the media too.

I think that they want a law in place right now. Why not pass the one the Senate did last summer? And amend the law later with what Sensenbrenner wants? The law has been languishing now for a good six months, why hasn't it been brought up on the House floor? Not enough votes? Well, then compromise.

I really never thought we'd see the day when she was found. I'm not in Utah right now, I was talking on the phone with my mom when the news came on the TV that she had been found. I was totally dumbfounded.

Yes, she's kind of red across the center of her face. In one picture of Barzee, she has that redness too. It appears the females got a bit of a sunburn right on the part of their faces that wasn't covered. Barzee's facial redness might also have been partly due to severe alcoholism--although I don't know this, just speculating.

Elizabeth's face might also be a bit puffy as a side effect of some drug he might have been making her take.

They appear to have led the strenuous life--with Mitchell himself having taken time out to drink like a fish. That would help along Elizabeth's growth spurt. All that exercise.

This is another interesting snippet from the article in Post 169:

On Sept. 27, Mitchell was caught shoplifting beer and other supplies from a downtown grocery store. He gave the misspelled name ``Immenuel,'' but skipped out on his arraignment two weeks later.

The following is from an article June 8, 3 days after the kidnapping:

Police discounted another lead Friday from the manager of a convenience store two miles from Elizabeth's house who produced a video tape from his store's security camera. Police said the man shown on the tape wasn't a suspect.

This is the only info I can find now on the person in the convenience store's security video but this is the story. A man matching the description of the kidnapper including the white hat snuck (sneeked?) into a convenience store in Federal Heights shortly before the kidnapping and stole some beer without the person working ever seeing him come in or leave. Police asked for a review of all security videos in the Federal Heights area in the days after the kidnapping. The management of this convenience store saw a man matching the description of the kidnapper's clothing and white hat come in and steal beer shortly before the kidnapping and turned the video over to police, who later said it was unrelated to the kidnapping and gave no reason why.

I wonder if it was old "Emanuel" on this security tape?

I know they will try to charge him with whatever would result in the most time, if convicted.

But as far as I know, it is the knife that makes Elizabeth's kidnapping aggravated.

OTOH, maybe there are other circumstances that could also make it qualify for "aggravated" level--such as the fact that he was simultaneously committing a burglary of an occupied dwelling.

The guy needs to be put away, no doubt about that.

That's what I'm wondering too? When I saw Emmanual drinking beer at that party in SLC, I started to wonder if he was the guy who stole the beer from the convenience store. Hopefully the police have the tape (not too optimistic about that one...)

Note what he said in that taped Feb. court appearance we saw on TV: "I got drunk for the first time in 22 years."

Yet in an earlier article, a liquor store guy is quoted as saying Mitchell was a regular customer. And the people at the Wild Oats party say he got drunk.

He seems quite crazy--but not so crazy that he doesn't know how to lie.

Very interesting! I wonder which of Mitchell's relatives is the one in Montana? Seems to me that most of them, including his own mother, didn't want anything to do with him.

His father, whose first name was Shirl, was extremely candid on TV last night (phone interview.) He said, among other things, that Mitchell had been jailed as a teenager, for exposing himself to a 3-yr-old girl. Note that in one of the articles above, it says during one arrest, Mitchell said his last name was "Shirlson."

Good thought. You have company, too. A poster named Sherlock insisted on not dismissing that sighting in the canyon--even when just about everyone else did (b/c police said it was a false alarm.)

I also like your ideas about Mitchell's possible over-exposure to the chemicals he would have used while working as a jewelry-maker.

She probably did tell Mitchell about the cousin.

It is said that this was the cousin Elizabeth was closest to, and it appears that Mitchell was trying to "steal" her for Elizabeth to have some company.

It is possible that what Elizabeth was really thinking was, "I wish my older cousin were here. SHE'D know how to get me--and her--out of this!!" The cousin was at least 18.

Last night on cable, I heard with my own ears, Mitchell's ex-wife say: "His mother lived right down the street from that cousin of Elizabeth's they tried to kidnap." That's not her exact words, but close. She was referring to Mitchell's mother! Now, Mitchell's mother may have lived in more than one place, but from what the ex-wife said, it appears that at one time, she lived near that Owens cousin of Elizabeth's. And Mitchell often lived with his mother--until his mother had to permanently ban him b/c he and Wanda physically attacked her.
