March 12 CBS was bombarded with complaints last week after Star Search judge Naomi Judd referred to a black dancer as a monkey. I was stunned, a source tells The Scoop. She said it in a way that was meant to be funny and playful, but it was astonishingly racist and insensitive.
I HEARD THAT the [CBS] switchboard really lit up, the source said.
Only moments later, after a trio of tap dancers, the un-PC singer announced that she loves it when white people tap dance. Totally bizarre comment, but yet another reason to make fun of Naomi, one poster on Television Without Pity.com commented. Youve got to admit, she unintentionally provides comic relief to the show. Every time its her turn to vote, I think, What stupid thing is she going to say now?
Its a real problem, said another Star Search fan who says that the country and western crooner once referred to a dance by three black women as tribal.
Spokesmen for Judd and CBS didnt return calls for comment.

I don't think your post is harsh. I think Spike Lee should be fired for calling mixed race people oreos and zebras, mutt people. I hated his movie Jungle Fever for stereotyping Italians (I'm half Italian) and getting away with it. How is it that Naomi Judd gets kicked off a show for what she said, but there are plenty of black personalities who never get punished? I WON'T WALK ON EGGSHELLS EITHER.
The reason why you will never heard Condi say anything is because she has a LIFE. She is too busy on Fantasy Island with Dubya solving the world's problems while these people count belly button fuzz. There are plenty of black people who are too busy working and providing for their families and having a good time to bother.

Aba Dabba...
From the movie "Two Weeks with Love" starring Debbie Reynolds. I fell in love with her when I saw that movie. I was about 10. She is still beautiful!

"Just heard Arsenio say..."
Where does Arsenio get a forum whereby ANYONE can hear him?
Isn't he a klintonista?

Those who seek to destroy Naomi Judd's reputation over these innocent remarks is neither human or monkey, they are low life SOB's! I second that one! She apologized and that should be enough.
Of course there's white bashing going on but what's being done about that? Whites are put down, mocked and trashed by certain ethnic groups all the time. If you ever saw the movie, "White Men Can't Jump" its got lots of racist connation in it as well.

The curious thing to me is, it can't be a racial comment unless the people who are offended by it actually think that black people look like monkeys.Interesting ---actually I've never heard anyone called "monkey" for racial reasons ---I didn't know it had a racial connotation before. If someone called me a monkey I wouldn't have thought they mistook me for a black. I thought it was a word mostly used on active kids.

That's another word that shouldn't have racial meanings or be insulting. I've heard plenty of white people use it ---especially if they have plenty of kids ---they'll refer to their family as a "tribe". "I'll bring my tribe over about 6:00pm....."

Just heard Arsenio say the French can take their damn statue back.First he said they used to have a fifth judge but they were French and they didn't want the French judge anymore. (or something like that). On another thread a couple people reminded us of the corrupt French figure skating judge at the Olympics. Remember? I'd forgotten!
Anyway, I saw Naomi Judd make the "Funky monkey" comment. It was at the end of a bunch of rhyming words she strung together to describe the dance the young black guy had just performed. It was that type of dancing where he did the splits, handstands, spinning on his head and the moonwalk. I got why she said it, and knowing how PC can be, figured there'd be some brouhaha over it. No biggie, since black judges, including Arsenio, the host, have made "for a white person..." type statements on the show.

I just don't get it with the monkey sensitivity. My public school system tried to teach me that we all came from apes. What IS the deal?

Naomi Judd thinks star search is all about her; and it is so obvious by her nitwit remarks.

Wrestlers are very amusing in their dialog, especially the one called "The Rock", I've never heard his ethnicity mentioned, His father was/is a light-skinned black professional wrestler whose name I forget right now,and his mother was/is Samoian. I THINK his father's real name was Johnson. He had birds tatooed on his chest.

I heard her say to a black contestant that his nose was just a little to wide. I thought oh boy in this PC world it's gonna hit the fan.
Sounds like she has been consistent with her judging techniques.

She said "I just love diversity!" It really seemed strange to me. What did she mean by that?? She is hinting that she is going senile.

"Ever see the movie "Drumline?" Just look at the way the black marching band performs. Look at how the black cheerleaders execute. Much, much more energy and livelier than what you'll see from a white marching band and cheerleaders.
All that glitters is not gold.
