Even though most of what you hear on country radio these days is pretty bland, I have found my local country music station (99.5 - WKLB, Boston) to be a sanctuary from the leftist crap that is spewed on most other FM stations. I have attended many country music concerts over the years and the audience is overwhelmingly conservative. At a Brooks & Dunn concert a couple of years ago (and this was BEFORE 9/11), the crowd literally exploded when the song "Only in America" was played. At a Alan Jackson concert last summer, WKLB issued an American flag to everybody at the gates. Everytime there was a patriotic song done (we even had a state trooper sing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" before the concert), everybody in the audience was waving the flag. It was quite something to see.
These Dixie Chicks made a huge mistake. I know that I will never buy another CD from them and I'm never listening to the one I have - I'll probably just trash it. I would say that the Dixie Chicks just lost 80% of their core audience. Easily.

They sang a beautiful rendition of the national anthem at this years Super Bowl. My how quickly they changed.

Never again. Their music, once mildly entertaining, now sounds like shrill whining to my ears...

Hey folks... WOAI.COM has a poll on the Dixie Chicks matter. For those of you that don't know WOAI is ClearChannel Radio's Corporate flagship station. I think they'll really pay attention to this one...

Given that their concerts were almost instant sell-outs, I find it hard to believe a promoter is going to give up that amount of cash, unless the low ticket prices made the event unprofitable in some way. And the promotoer who canceled would be liable for a lawsuit for damages
Shhhhhh..... Don't spoil the little freeper party.
I think its funny that when Jesse Jackson or NOW pulls boycotts and publicity stunts, its called "a shakedown" or "extortion". Then freepers turn around and do the same thing. Interesting, the mentality.

The utter, vile hate displayed here is astounding. I almost feel like I am at DU.

Use your Blixie Chicks CD's for skeet practice. I, too, was going to throw them in the trash until a FReeper posted a pic of a guy shooting a flying disk. I called my local country radio station and told them I was gonna do it. The on air DJ loved it and talked about having a fund-raiser for the USO if more former fans were willing to donate. The station is also fielding calls about whether or not they should boycott playing the Blixie Chicks songs until Mains gives a REAL apology.

I'm just raising what should be obvious..and BTW, I wouldn't want someone who obviously wants to do the right thing, to suffer financial damages because of his actions

I would say that the Dixie Chicks just lost 80% of their core audience. Easily. I would agree..... I've always like the DC.... I was'nt impressed with Natalies statement when we first went to war in afghanistan and she made some anti statement then. But I chalked it up to ignorance and still listened to their music.
But this is the final straw, to go kissing Euro-Arse by disrespecting our President is over the top and unforgivable. I'll never buy another CD or even listen to their songs. Time for them to learn they are replacable.

Good points you've raised there.
I've had my doubts about this war from Day 1, and I continue to question some of the facts (or lack thereof), but I stand behind President George W. Bush all the way even when I disagree with him.

Hope the next time the Dixie Chicks take the stage here in the homeland that they will hear... boo, boo, boo. Like that other weasel Sinead O'Connor after she attack the Pope.

Ditto...I'd like that e-mail info, too. I need another " boycott fix" as I told MCI last night when they called there was no way I would switch as long as that anti-American Danny Glover was their spokesman. It felt good.
To: FreeTally
I see you on every Blixie Chick thread b*tching about it. If it bothers you so much why do keep reading them?

The difference is that with Jesse it is an organization, with the DC it is a pure grass-roots phenomenon, all of this has materialized in less than a day. Nobody is threatening the radio stations with law suits.
