Have no idea what the number of troops needs to be. I just know that if the US was not ready to attack then Bush should not have run off his mouth implying that war was imminent, UN or no UN, for the last three months. Why? Did he hurt your feelings? Why should he tell the truth to Saddam and give him ANY break?
I guess he should have said "No, I can't see us having assets in place for another couple months. This would be a good time for Saddam's army to stand down and rest and reequip."
Brilliant.

Come on now. How about speaking softly and carrying a big stick... in other words using "quiet" diplomacy while still doing a massive military buildup? Just using a little common sense instead of: motivating millions of people around the world to demonstrate against the war, making that frog Chirac the darling hero of the ant-america crowd, getting troops stuck in a desert and revved up to fight while you go off to a luxury resort, and destroying your own credibility as a president who "means what he says."
The length that some people go to excuse inexcusable performance is truly astounding!

Perhaps you would like to document the multiple instances of Presidient Bush "running off his mouth." To my recollection, his statements have been more along the line of "the use of force is a last resort," "Iraq must disarm or we will lead a coalition of the willing to disarm them" and "the Security Council must decide if it means what it says and if it will enforce its resolutions."
I do not consider that especially belligerent. Now if you are taking the words of pundits who have said more belligerent things, well, that is inaccurate.
We maintained quiet diplomacy through December, going to the UN and not saying much at all. Meanwhile we were ramping up our forces. I would like evidence of your accusations.

So you think that if Bush didn't say anything, and just sent troops over to the Gulf by the tens of thousands, there wouldn't have been any protests?!
The length that some people go to blame Bush for everything is truly astounding.

Another question.
Seeing that support for this war is over 60% in this country, how can you call it an "inexcusable performance"?

In hopes Iraq surrender was the reason which I agree with as you know since I said it. Instead Iraq has not surrendered so force is needed.
If we are stopping the UN and getting rid of it, that is in our grasp this week and no later than the 17th.
I will say if we don't finish off the UN it will be stronger. If we get the vote from the UN to go in, then the UN will be stronger.
The next 3 days is it. Which will it be the UN out or the US under the UN?

There is no blame. This issue is about ending the UN or being under UN control. Its about liberating a country of Gods children and stopping a madman.
A 2 for one if you will..........

performance
The end result which should be by the 17th. This isn't over yet......
I see this as a exercise in voices of opinion. The opinion is finish off the madman and get out of the UN.

Who has anthrax, and would have synchronized the mailings to occur in the same time frame of the WTC attacks?Who, on the morning of September 11th, along with his family, retreated to one of his safest bunkers? And who, on the morning of September 11th, put his military on the highest level of alert. Before the first plane even hit the first WTC tower???
