I could be wrong, but I don't think she went willingly. I do think there is something very strange with her family... who knows perhaps her father is physically abusive. Elizabeth might have been raised to be obedient to authority. And her security was severely damaged... she was kidnapped from her bed, in her own home, with her parents right there. Why would anyone think themselves safe?

Also, perhaps after being "damaged goods" she felt that she could not go back home again. Who knows what threats have been used against her and her family. Who knows if previous attempts at escape failed and things were worse for her after that.

I don't think we will ever know the whole story and I have to admit, her father's personality sure puts a weird light on things. But I do not believe she went willingly or that she even stayed willingly. IMHO

----

Wasn't there some early speculation that the dad was gay, or in some other way was a deviant? I don't know why this comes to mind, but I remember reading something that implied or hinted at that.

The dad is driving me nuts --- his voice makes me want to throw something through the TV set.

How better to hide her in plain sight dress her like a Moslem Woman - in this day and age of PC noone would have the guts to look under the vail or even stare too long.

No doubt about it --- there's something just wrong about that guy. I suspect we'll eventually discover that this family has a lot to hide.

We are a church family and live in a sheltered community and I would NEVER invite a drifter home to work on my roof. That justs seems wierd; Mr. Smart obviously makes a good living doing something out in the "real" world and to understand allowing someone who gives only his first name to you gives me the creeps, thinking the Smarts have young children.
