My father left college and joined the French Ambulance Corps before the U.S. entered the First World War. He was injured by mustard gas, which gave him trouble the rest of his life. I'm glad he didn't live to see this.

Funny you should mention your dad: I was just thinking today that if he were still alive, he'd be having a FIT about all that is in the paper; I can hear him now, "We just don't need to know everything!"
