Hope you all can make it. Berlin is about as centrally located in CT as you can get- and very close to Routes 91, 9, and 5/15. Address is 152 Massirio Dr, Berlin, CT

I'm trying like hell to be there. There was an anti-war protest in Middletown last night, and little bro and I wish that we'd known in advance - we'd have been there with signs. Had a great chat with the kid this morning...he can't come to the rally on Saturday, he has a Sea Cadet drill that can't be missed.

Now, seeing as this is my first experience of the type, what should I do/wear/bring?

What should you do/wear/bring? Good question. There are no set 'rules' that I know of- mostly common sense. (I'm sure the peace-ies have a lot of rules!) I suggest positive signs with a 'support our troops' theme- here are some signs seen at the Manchester rally:
LAND OF THE FREE, THANKS TO THE BRAVE; THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY; ANOTHER FAMILY IN SUPPORT OF PRESIDENT BUSH AND OUR TROOPS; GIVE FRANCE BACK TO GERMANY
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS; GOD BLESS AMERICA; GOD BLESS OUR SON-IN-LAW; “I’LL TAKE IT FROM HERE” POSTER (US soldier taking flag from NYC fireman)
Look around on FreeRepublic for more ideas from other rallies across the country. Keep in mind there is a good possibility you or your sign will make it on the local news- so think about what's on your sign. Bring a flag. Dress comfortably. The real pro's stash supplies to make extra signs in the car, just in case. (Put a "Rubber Duckie 27" sticker on your coat so we will know who you are) Introduce yourself to fellow freepers! Hope you can make it. Ask about after-rally "activities".

Bring cameras, still photo and movie, both if you have them.

DDress for the weather

Bring water, we wont have the free food like the East Haven rally!!

Go to Staples, buy sign board or poster board, make a CLEAN sign, remember: It is not a blood-revenge we are calling for, we are doing this to provide a morale booster for the troops!!

Signs that call for the liberation of Iraq are perfect, that call on God to bless our forces are more perfect, that support our prez are just as well, but none that call on killing them all, none of those please.

There was a very nice article in today's Middletown Press about this weekend. It emphasisized supporting the troops REGARDLESS of opinion on the war. The article also mentioned the rally in Times Square on Sunday, ith information on proper signage and posters for that particular venue.

I was glad to see it placed higher on the page than the "Protestors Deride Strike" article. Apparently, in addition to war, the local protestors felt the need to rail against the "Bush administration, Israel, American economic policy, and state and federal cuts to education, health care, and services to the elderly." One of the anti-war protesters who was interviewed took offense at some of the non-war related remarks.

I'm working on getting folks there on Saturday!
