Isn't this what triggered World War One?
BTW William, you should have stayed away from Buffalo that day.

Independent B-92 radio said Djindjic, who played a key role in Milosevic's extradition to the U.N. War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, was shot in the chest while entering the government building in Belgrade. Shouldn't surprise anybody...

Was he killed by an Austrian-Hungarian? Turn-about is fair play you know.

To those who hit abuse saying that this was a duplicate of
this, I disagree because the first thread was about an assassination attempt, and this one said it was done, he was assassinated.
It was a judgement call, and I agree that it would not have been improper to pull this or lock it and link it to the other piece. But I prefer a hands off approach as much as possible. It is better to let the mosaic unfold on its own. Thanks, AM

BBC is announcing that the he "has been assassinated".

For what its worth from DEBKA:
Serbian prime minister Zoran Djindjic dies of injuries sustained in shooting attack Wednesday in front of government building in Belgrade. DEBKAfile: He was hit with two bullets fired from a high caliber weapon from a long distance, most probably by a professional assassin. Djindjic campaigned against corruption and organized crime in Serbia.

This is extremely bad news and places Serbia in very serious danger of spiralling into chaos. Apart from Djindjic there is no-one else to hold it all together.

[Tin Foil] Ahmad Shah Massoud (deceased) -- Born in 1953 in Panjsher, Afghanistan. Massoud fled to Pakistan when the Afghan King was deposed in 1973. He was trained there by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's government to go back and fight in Afghanistan. In 1975, he returned to Panjsher and, after the communist coup of 1978, joined Burahanuddin Rabbani. He drove the Russians out of the Panjsher Valley. After the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, he expanded his military control in areas north of Kabul and in northern Afghanistan.
Massoud was a key player in establishing Northern Alliance in 1992 . He became Defense Minister when Rabbani was installed as President in 1992. Rabbani and Massoud moved to the north of the country and continue to be recognized as Afghanistan's rightful rulers by most of the world. "The Lion of Panjsher" (as Massoud was called) was
killed on September 10, 2001 by suicide bombers . [/Tin Foil]
Yesterday was 3/11/03 and the eighteen-month anniversary of the WTC, Pentagon and Pennsylvania terror attacks. Could this be a signal of another round of world terrorism?
Something to think about.

Funny how the Serb PM was killed just s he started to call for the re-assertion of Serbian authority in Kosovo??
In the end he made too many enemies--the last enemy he made was NATO.
At least they can't blame Slobo for this one.

He's dead, good, he was a corrupt Western lackey who survived on cronyism. He knew he couldn't be elected outright so he rode on the coatails of Kostunica. He's (was) a crook on the order of 10 fold in comparison to Milo. Good riddance.

I guess I gotta be the dunce and ask: What does this mean for us? What kind of affect does this have on the war on terror, if any? I am trying to make the connection...

Just business as usual in the Balkans - unless Islamic Fundamentalists are involved.
