You're right and you're almost right: the Bible tells what will happen: Science is just showing the method by which He will do it, the way He planned it from the beginning.

From the standpoint of a working engineer, His engineering the universe to work in just this way is even MORE awe-inspiring than a simple "Poof!" and it's there and "poof" and it's gone. . .

Ecclesiastes 1:4
One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth forever.

Does that mean there will be no virgins at the end?

Cosmology ping.

[This ping list is for the evolution -- not creationism -- side of evolution threads, and sometimes for other science topics. To be added (or dropped), let me know via freepmail.]

From the article:
When Earth explodes, the end is momentarily near. At this point, there is still a short interval before atoms and even their nuclei break apart. "There's about 30 minutes left," Caldwell said, "But it's not quality time."

Candidate for the greatest understatement in the history of the universe.

...are you on board or are you gonna wait to find out?

It doesn't matter. God already knows how it has turned out for you. God knows everything that has occurred in the past, and everything that will happen in the future.

Nothing you can do can possibly change the final outcome.

All those scenarios don't really matter. Humans will have killed themselves off in one way or another long before the planet/sun/universe ceases to exist. We will go the way of the dinosaurs.

given the current state of world and national affairs, the end of the universe couldn't come a moment too soon!

I know how you feel. If stupidity were gravity we would have already been swallowed by a black hole.

Yeah; where's the "Tedster" when you need a laugh?

Not to worry, though; there's no shortage of new cranks to replace him.

Ah, yes, the Euripides theory.

Euripides met his end by being torn to pieces by hounds.
