Members of the anti-smoking brigade are irrational and extremely paranoid. The only surprise is that they are not running around with masks and scarves wrapped around their faces like Michael Jackson.

Oops! Let me try again:

Members of the anti-smoking brigade are irrational, hysterical and extremely paranoid.

The only surprise is that they are not running around with masks and scarves wrapped around their faces like Michael Jackson.

The anti-smokers ask for courtesy and yet they are the ones who make no compromises. Segregated smoking sections in restaurants? Not good enough. Smoking only in the privacy of your own home? Not good enough. Smoking only outdoors? Not good enough. The list goes on. However, your cigarette tax dollars are always good enough. And take note of how many anti-smokers like to ride around in traffic with the windows down.

This anti-smoking hysteria which took off in the 1990s has given rise to what are called "new problems," which are newly-founded complaints against smoking that were not typically problems in the past, or which were not problems for previous generations. Non-smokers in the 1930s and 1940s, for example, got along just fine, and none of them were dying off in droves due to second-hand smoke. Of course, they were not exactly a generation of overly-sensitive and self-righteous wimps either.

Today's wimps go crying to daddy, Mr. Big Government.

All anti-smokers, democrats or not, nonethless appear like democrats with their condescending snobbishness, and arguments from purity.

Such ridiculous anti-smoking laws help convince them that the world really does revolve around them. That's reason enough to oppose them.

The only sobering thing about these threads is that one can quickly see that the anti-smoking brigade acts solely from its own self-interest, and that all their attempts to "save and rescue" the lowly smokers from themselves is simply BS. Of course, that too is taken from the playbook of the democrats.
