One does not HAVE to wear corsets or stiletto heels in America. One MUST wear a Burka over there.

"Has the Bush administration's impending war in Iraq stirred up nostalgia for the 19th century imperial ideal of a genteel lady, laced up in a corset, teetering on high-heeled shoes, in a regal gown?"

Oh, Sheesh.....the looney left at it again...now blaming the Bush administration for fashions women choose. GET A LIFE, you idiot, or should I say, ARE YOU EVER lucky you were BORN (or moved) to the USA!

She is correct about the lack of intelligence of this fashion trend.

Why she blames America in general, rather than the stupid women who wear them, is quite beyond me.

People do stupid or ill-advised things. This is particularly true among young people. Witness the high auto and motor cycle accident rate among young people, particularly young males. Witness the number of injuries by to extreme sports. Not to mention unwise alchohol and drug related risks many (mostly young) people take.

Wearing high pointy toed shoes may not be terribly wise use of one's brain, but it hardly compares to having your brains splattered along the highway. And it certainly doesn't place others in physical jeapardy.

The author needs some perspective.

What disturbs me so much about corsets and stiletto heels is the physical harm they inflict on women's bodies.

No, what disturbs her the most is that she is fat and flat-footed.

Call it the American burqa.

No, let's not. Let's call it hyperbole. And unless I can be shown the Kalashnikov that lovingly taps the cranium of those gals who opt against a corset, please shut the f**k up, you insufferable babbling hag.

It might be nice if you could make a point about some regrettable fashion trend without trivializing real oppression. You know, the execution-in-soccer-stadium kind. But, absurd hyperbole being essential to most leftist prattle, I won't hold out hope.

Nope, I can't. Way too easy.
