..is it illegal in their country...

...(even when they're within legal limits)...

...as long as no laws are broken...

Sheesh. Who's your dad, Alan Dershowitz?

I'm not talking about the legalities, madame. I'm talking about the constant affront to decency by people who have no talent, no ability to entertain, and have to instead plumb the depths of sordidness in order to inspire the only emotion they're capable of delivering: revulsion. Perhaps -with your world-weary air- this is oh-so-passe, and for Chad, just another opening for some Z-grade yuks. But I beg to differ. I see it as another steep decline on the track, as we slouch towards Gomorrah. Apologists like yourself, who seem to think something's wrong only if it breaches the legal code, are part of the problem. Where's the outrage? For the Me Generation, it'll come only when they're personally affected, as usual. So I guess we'll wait, 'til your son or grandson, brings a sheep home? Yours in amazement, Byron.

No, my dad is not Alan Dershowitz. My dad was a much better man than Alan Dershowitz.

The point is, Byron, people said the same things about Elvis Presley, Lenny Bruce, and a host of other entertainers - and the world is still turning. Either make it illegal to carve up a dead sheep on stage (you never did answer my question about whether watching a butcher do the same thing would repulse you), or do what I do - stay home.

Who appointed you the authority to dictate to others what legal acts they should or should not see?

I suppose the question I would have to ask you is a simple one: Are you FORCED to watch a legal activity with which you disagree? Are you in any way hurt, or do you suffer any kind of loss, because someone, somewhere is doing something with which you disapprove? What other people do is their own business, and quite frankly as a conservative, all I want is to be left alone - as long as I am not hurting you, or others, what I do is my business and mine alone. Do I agree with carving up dead sheep on stage? No, in fact I think it's rather pathetic. But, it doesn't hurt me, and I'm not gonna lose any sleep tonight because somewhere some no-talent hacks are doing something stupid...

Perhaps -with your world-weary air- this is oh-so-passe, and for Chad, just another opening for some Z-grade yuks.

Ahhh... I know, I'm the ONLY person who thinks this whole thing is amusing. So sue me.

But I beg to differ. I see it as another steep decline on the track, as we slouch towards Gomorrah. Apologists like yourself, who seem to think something's wrong only if it breaches the legal code, are part of the problem.

Well, if youu want to be a self-appointed Morality Policeman, be my guest. Doesn't mean I have to agree with you. I see nothing immoral about carving up a dead sheep - stupid and gimmicky, yes. Immoral? I doubt it...

Where's the outrage? For the Me Generation, it'll come only when they're personally affected, as usual.

Where's the outrage? i determine what I should get outraged about, not you. I'll save my outrage for REAL abuses, thank you very much. I'll be outraged when people are actually harmed in some tangible way, not because their sensibilities are offended...

So I guess we'll wait, 'til your son or grandson, brings a sheep home? Yours in amazement, Byron.

Well, I suppose it would depend on the sheep, I'm thinkin... I mean, is it a white sheep? A Black Sheep? Episcopalian? I mean, even I have standards...

Great posts in aid of staunch resistance to these beasts. There's a difference between art that shocks because it's different in concept, and offenses against good taste and public decency. I don't know if these metal types know/use the term, but when people were opposing the NEA-funded trash "art", it came out that the "artists" called producing their filth "boob bumping." The idea behind the effrontery was to shock and offend.
