When I saw the title, I thought that there was an email circulating that read "Hello.." Oops, I forgot, these things always use all caps. Lemme start again. "HELLO, MY NAME IS JIMMY CARTER. I RECENTLY INHERITED A SUM OF $20,000,000 FROM MY LATE FATHER'S RUBBER PLANTATION. I NEED YOUR HELP TO MOVE THIS MONEY TO AN AMERICAN ACCOUNT." But I see now that Jimmy's still playing for peanuts.

Hmmmm. . .strange. I have a sister in law who got a home from habitat. She is no criminal, nor are any of the other people she knows who got homes through Habitat.

As to the 'rip-off' charge, I really don't know what you would be refering to there. Very few materials are donated free of charge. Most of the time, they are purchased at cost. Further, those who get Habitat homes don't get them for free. They are pay a mortgage every month just like I do. It is lower, because most of the labor has been donated. (By the way, those who receive Habitat houses have to work on them while they are being built.)

You appear to know little or nothing of the realities of 'Habitat.' - They send out numerous mass mailings asking for donations. Current policy is definately to move recently paroled criminals to the top of the list.

When the habitat show comes to town, the local labor unions put on the pressure to members to donate labor, and if Carter is to be present, huge pressure is applied for photo-opps.

It is certainly possible that former presidents can negotiate better deals than us mere mortals, but I doubt it. I negotiated with NetJets for months, and they are very stubborn. They are the 800 pound gorilla in the fractional ownership market, and by far the best of the companies. They don't compromise for anyone. -Ken

Mr. Carter and the RATS are masters of charade. I will never forget his "fireside chats" during our "energy crisis." While wearing his sweater and extolling the virtues of turning down the thermostat--bla-bla, he was clearly sitting in front of a gas fueled fireplace!--so much for conservation!
