If these people are so rude they are willing to call us names in public, then what is the point of giving them more fuel by returning the namecalling in private. All this will succeed in doing is reaffirming her opinion.

As far as I'm concerned, she is entitled to her opinion - BUT ... that does not make it a fact. Because it's not a FACT, there is no reason to argue the point or call her names.
