No I don't think Bush should have shown that footage. He needed people like Savage to continue to build the case as the average American citizen that knows what's going on.

I agree. I had to miss the live press conference but had a chance to hear Greta Van Sustern remark later that she'd been hearing about Bush being a "cowboy" and being all gungho after Saddam. She said his demeanor struck her as thoughtful, but determined to defend America. Not at all as if this was something he wanted to do.

So my opinion is if folks like Greta Van were impressed, the tone was the perfect one to take--for the circumstance.

And he betrayed no smirk as he struck the Helen Thomas custom from the event.

The man is smooth. He made his case all the time jabbing and moving all around Helen Thomas. He can pin you without appearing nasty.

If you want to view the conference online.

...the tone was the perfect one to take--for the circumstance.

It seems that people like Savage and Dowd would have preferred or expected a torch light parade with a strutting, shouting and spitting President dispensing gingoisms and promises of Iraqi destruction.

Bush is a MAN in every respect and took the proper tone for a leader that must put his people and other innocents in harms way for the doing of needful things.
