Just heard on Fox News that Bruce Willis' "Tears of the Sun" does not have any distributors overseas because the movie is "too American".

We should send the message to Europe and the Hollywood Left what kind of movies we'll pay to see!!

Bruce plays a Navy Seal out to rescue an American citizen. Go Bruce, Go America, Hurray for a Hollywood Hero!!

Who else is in?

So it is true to life then? Sounds like it.

When I was in Somalia, the abject poverty, disease, and death really woke me up to the "realities" of the world.

Most of the "civilised" world has absolutely no clue about reality outside of thier western styled lives. ONLY in western nations and western influenced nations do we regard human life as something to be cherished. Human life, in a majority of the world, has no value at all.

All of africa(with the demise of white SA) is a modern day wasteland that makes the Mad Max movies look as innocent as Peter Pan. There are of course some exceptions. But they hover over the edge constantly and one slip and they too will fall into anarchy.

Take a look at any African country today. Their leaders feed off killing, rape, plundering and destroying any semblance of a free society. The rampage of AIDS, starvation, genocide...well, it no longer bothers me. These people will eventually die off completely no matter what aid we render to them.

It's sad, but no longer worth fretting about. If they don't get it by now, they never will.

I just went to a matinee showing of this movie. It was quite moving--in fact I was moved to tears a couple of times.

Definitely a lot of action, but it shouldn't be classified as an action film, more of a drama as others have said here. Yes, a lot of the reviews weren't great, but a few turned up that were positive enough that I wanted to see this one.

And I don't know why it's getting such bad reviews, other than BW's politics. I've seen awful movies that I've had to walk out of, that critics rave about.

The theatre was packed too! Many young fellows among the audience, guys in their late teens to 20s, and a lot of fathers with their pre-teen sons.

I would definitely recommend it. Some reviewers have complained that the plot was thin, but maybe I just didn't notice it, the story was quite engrossing and emotional, in fact.

And the famous quote by Edmund Burke is used in this movie:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

My wife and I also went to see it last night. It was almost sureal watching such as pro-USA movie from Hollywood. I love the ending with the guy's fist in the air yelling "freedom" and the Edmund Burke quote at the end...nice touch.

As we exited there were a couple of people asking us to rate the movie by putting our ticket stubs into a box--I dropped them both in the 3.5 stars and later wished I had dropped them into the 4 stars box. I've never seen this done before, interesting.

We ended the night at a local restaurant where I ordered a white wine and insisted that it not be French. The young waitress looked confused and didn't "get it". My wife was completely embarrassed by this--she was raised by liberals and doesn't take a stand on anything (typical). The good news is that she is a conservative now--I was able to convert her a few years ago.

Good flick. We need to support it by giving it good reviews on the internet and elsewhere.

My husband and I went this afternoon. It was a good action movie. I had to close my eyes for some of the scenes. I don't know how graphic the missed scenes were.

..but no longer worth fretting about

When we look away, evil wins.

Excellent film. I didn't expect to be moved this much by a Bruce Willis film.

*&^^%! Polanski.

Besides I've already seen more than my share of holocaust films, and as well as reading various books, like Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and Anne Frank's diary.

And they made enough of an impression on me that I fully support our President's attempts to end the murderous regime of Saddam.

For those younguns who haven't seen their quota of holocaust films, go to your favorite movie rental place and rent one.

But @##$%%! Polanski.

I don't understand your reference to younguns who haven't seen their quota of holocaust films.

I am familar with the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich and Frank's Diary. However, as you have not seen the Pianist, you are unaware it is not just another holocaust film. Wladyslaw Szpilman, the Pianist is an extraordinary story of one man's survival in Warsaw from 1939-1945 and those assisting Szpilman include a high ranking German officer who hides the talented musician in the attic above his post of command bringing him food and his own coat for warmth. I had the same misgivings also in seeing the film, but am glad I did. You will see how over time many of the Jews armed themselves and fought back. I found it a remarkable and powerful film. It is not what you may term is "just another holocaust film."

From the reviews I read, the movie seems to be very patriotic, shows the military caring about people, and makes it look like the U.S. can help a people through regime change.

one man's survival in Warsaw from 1939-1945

I've also read The Wall and seen a movie about the Warsaw "uprising." I've read and seen dozens of books and movies about the holocaust.

There was a point in my life when I said, no more rollercoster rides, I hate them. And a point at which I said, no more holocaust movies or books, after Speilberg's. I don't have a lot of life left and I'd rather plant flowers and look at the stars.
